Are you finding the 7 network's coverage of the olympics second rate?

What's going on with the olympic coverage? It's like channel 7 got together at the last minute and decided what to do. I was watching the women's gym finals last night and they had a lady compare (who obviously knew what she was talking about) and that Simon the newsreader from the Sunrise program....needless to say, the guy had no idea. He mentioned something about a block of wood in the backyard being analogous to a gymnastics beam. Also, a Russian gymnast scored zero and they said "that's strange".....no explaination given.

Do channel seven have any idea?

  1. Yes, I agree with you.

I think the coverage has been second-rate right from the commentary at the opening ceremony and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

They do seem to have some very knowledgeable commentators for example Raelene Boyle, at the athletics, but some of the hangers-on are next to useless.

One good thing is Sonia Kruger has disappeared from Yum Cha in the mornings.

Channel Seven are clueless this time around.

I've been watching SBS quite a bit.

  2. yeah i think its a bit S****y the coverage.

and with the russian gymnast she got a zero because she started before the light went green and therefore that score didn't count.

  3. YES and I hope they don't apply to do the next olympic games. The commentators at the opening ceremony was shocking, especially the males voice, as you couldn't hear a thing he was saying, so you missed out on why things were being done and for what reason.

  4. "Second-Rate"? That one of the best understatements of the year so far.

  5. I cant believe that they were not better organised. We are missing so many live events and in the evening it is repeat after repeat

Apparenttly channel 9 has it in London, lets hope that they do a better job

  6. Third rate would be a better statement. They have not been doing a good job at all.

  7. yes

  8. Yes very amateurish for such an important event.

  9. It's been pretty appalling. Getting coverage from the abc or other places has been far more accurate and up to date, which is shocking considering channel 7 paid for the broadcast rights. I wanted to watch the opening ceremony streaming, but if that was an option it certainly wasn't easy to find.
