  1. I remember when oil drilling went on off the California coast. The reason it was stopped was due to the risk of oil spills that fouled the beaches. I can recall frequently stepping in tar when I walked along the beach. If that risk could be reduced or removed, then I wouldn't have as much a problem with it.

  2. I'm against it, but I'm against drilling as a whole. This planet is going to have to find some other means of energy that doesn't simultaneous pollute or harm other beings. Yea I probably sound like a hippy, but offshore/mainland where ever the drilling is, its not going to last forever. If the government spent as much money on research for new energy sources as it did on the war we'd be in flying cars that ran on nothing.

  3. Yes, I'm for it 100%. I live in Southeast Louisiana and we were promised to have more off-shore drilling after Hurricane Katrina. Since then I've heard nothing about it. I have to wonder why because if they would allow more off-shore drilling, not only off our coast but others as well, we wouldn't be so dependent on Middle Eastern oil. That would be a giant plus for the U.S.A.!

It would also help the economy. More jobs etc.

  4. for

  5. If there is oil there, drill for it.  Obama's position on this issue defies common sense.

  6. I think we should be drilling for oil where ever we can.  The American people are suffering financially.  Soon crime is going to take over the whole country.  We have honest hard working Americans that are having to choose between food and gas, or clothes and gas, etc..  I am not talking about luxuries, I am talking about necessities.

I agree we should be very careful when drilling so we don't disturb the environment anymore than we have too.  However, when it comes down to a polar bear in Alaska and a family putting food on the table, there is no question as to what has to be done.

  7. For it. It would lower gas prices because of increased supply.

  8. 110% for it.  Why not?  The damage to the environment is minimal and pales in comparison to the risk of future potential oil wars with the middle east that would make WW II look like a tea-party. (Nukes, etc.)

The saudi's are gouging us right now, and Bush is partly to blame.

The Saudi's obviously can't handle power, and would pillage the USA if given the opportunity.

We should conquer the middle east, and run their "Princes" out of town.

    It's the only solution IMHO.

  9. I would be if it actually made a dent in the price of gas. Unfortuntly, that is not the case. The amount produced would be a drop in the bucket on the world market

  10. I can't imagine it.

  11. FOR IT

  12. Hold Off Shore Drilling as a secondary option to onshore drilling on land that the oil companies already have leases on. Give them a time line that they must begin drilling and if the default then offer the leases to other companies that prove an ability and desire to drill these sites. Monitor and access the amount of oil that this drilling produces and if it is not significant enough to affect oil prices then re-think the risk of off shore drilling. The environment is as fragile as our economy and not as easily repaired. We don't want our children to inherit a dirty planet anymore than have them pay the national debt or suffer future problems of the present economy.
