  1. Irish and against, there needs to be a cap off point.  Too many immigrants are being flown over by agencies and used as when needed off course after they pay the agencies rent and "legal fees" first.  I'm not against immigrants but i am against the massive numbers being used.  Ireland cannot support the amount of immigrants coming over.  Everybody looses out.  There needs to be a fixed quota.

  2. My stance? I agree that we should have stronger borders, and that all immigration should be done the legal and right way. But how about those who are already here? There are 12 million people, and how the heck are you going to kick all of them out?

Of course there are those who come here to cause trouble, and contribute nothing to this country, but you can't judge everyone by the actions of a few. There are many kids who came here when they were just a couple of months old. I think those are the people who are most deserving. Those who are here to work and be productive. Those who will actually learn english and assimilate with our culture. Those who pay taxes (by the way, you don't need a social security number to pay taxes, the IRS gives them a taxpayer id number). Most of these illegal immigrants pay taxes out of fear of tax evasion charges. I say, if they have a criminal record, then don't give them the chance of a path to citizenship. But those who have a clean record and are either in school, or being a productive member of our society, why not give them an opportunity?

By the way, while crossing the border undocumented is a crime, but why make the kids pay for the actions of their parents?

  3. Immigration is fine as long as you have plenty of room, and the resources to support those immigrants.  The United States is doing poorly in  both of those items and right now, perhaps we should stop for a while, absorb what we have, and then resume immigration processes at a substantially lower level.

  4. Normal migration (on the pre 97 level) was fine & healthy. That's what has happened for hundreds of years & resulted in one rule of law & intergration.

Mass immigration is an economic debate & for the average UK resident from 96 onwards it's has been very negative.

On a community level it has created segregation between the people who reside in the UK which has strains on social cohesion etc etc etc.

  5. All for LEGAL immigration but totally against illegal. The illegals drain from a system that was set up to benefit Americans, not criminals.

  6. Against. The country has too many foreigners already. There is just no room for any more.

  7. Britain has got enough immigrants....who have come to this Country and basically take up all the unskilled jobs and above all speak very little english, know nothing of our society in general and our customs. They are also a drain on our resources, especially the NHS.

  8. Very difficult to answer but it is a double barrel here.

Currently I am against immigration to my country based solely on economic reasons.

Yet I do accept that there should be some cases when we can accept immigration. Please note that none of my reasons are based on race. For further reading on my answer which is short here go to my web site.

  9. No, the united states is a country based on immigrants!  To take immigrants out of the equation this would no longer be the USA.

  10. I FEEL like there are TOO MANY people around me everywhere I go. Some places are worse than others.

I think this happens as a reult of unbridled immigration LEGALLY. Add to that the illegals ...about another 10% of the pop.

I believe in immigration but it needs to be controlled better. Currently the USA let's in 50% LEGAL people from Mexico. I don't see how this can do anything but cripple us in the end.

We need diversity. Yes, we can have Mexicanos come and work low labor jobs but to give them citizenship in vast numbers makes no sense. Let them come and work. Leave their kids and non working mothers in their home country.

If that works for us and them fine. But to allow them here illegally or legally in huge numbers, by the millions yearly is going to be the death knell of this country.

In 1965 we let in roughly 300,000 people, carefully selected a year. Now we let in roughly a million yearly. (compliments of that fab Pres. J Kennedy; sarcasm) in about 15 years, if things persist this way, our country will have 4 times as many people as we have now.

These new people will all be immigrants ...legal immigrants. Add the illegals to that.

THIS IS INSANITY. It is like a cancer and it will kill this country off if not amended or stopped.

Balance in all things ....including immigration.

  11. I am for it, if people want the opportunity to move around the world why the h**l shouldn't they? If my education system had been forward thinking enough to teach me another language then I could move to another country and work there, where it's warmer and there aren't any nasty ASBO, Chavvy yobs. BUT In Britain, we are taught up to GCSE level (I have a grade C, but I can only ask for directions to the toilet in French) and that's that.

Edit: Willow- we don't have poll tax any more, it's council tax which is per house. If people are paying NI and tax they should be entitled to NHS etc. That's what they're paying towards. They should also be entitled to Child Benefit if their children are here too. Many immigrants DON'T send money home - they can't afford to, as the cost of living is currently increasing!!! Additionally, what bills do you think you pay that they don't????? Gas, electric, water, food?

Without immigration i wouldn't have met my wonderful Polish partner, who is loving and caring and amazing.

Edit: 916boi, what do you think the "legal way" is? Do you realise that there is free movement in the EU? People don't even LEGALLY need passports to come here as they have EU ID cards. They just need to arrive, register with the DWP for a NI number and then start work - exactly the same as us, should we choose to move.

Gail: housing is allocated on NEED, if YOU live in a 3 bed house with your kids - you don't NEED anywhere else, and nor do they. They have a room - unless you want to throw them out. If someone with two kids is sleeping rough, would you rather they continue to do so over your well housed and well fed children??

  12. I'm British and feel honoured that I live in one the most diverse countries in the world. This is due to hundreds of years of immigration and we are a far richer (economically and culturally) country because of it.

  13. Against!Alien cultures!

  14. FOR .

  15. Against in general. Why should the UK taxpayer fund the workshy and then import people from other countries to do the work? Most immigrants say they come here seeking work, but whose jobs are they taking? It's total madness, this is not a reflection on genuine cases, but I have worked in this "arena" for many years, and am all too aware of how the benefits system is abused. The genuinely disabled desire to work but are discriminated against,  the lazy, workshy, benefit scrounger will do all in their power to avoid work. Being in receipt of one benefit entitles them to many. Being in work entitles you to none, other than "working tax credits" which is another name for working for nothing but making the "stats" look good. Do I blame immigrants for this? Of course not, I would take advantage in the same way, What sticks in the craw for many, is how an immigrant can come here, work for minimum wage, and still send lots of money back home, whilst your average working Brit is struggling to make ends meet. Whilst they are here, (immigrants) they should be paying the same bills I am paying, paying the same prices for food, fuel, taxes etc .If the average Brit is struggling on the average wage why are immigrants so well off? Even if they live ten to a room they should be paying x ten poll tax. They should not receive free healthcare, which country can I go to and receive it? They would bill my NHS which I have already paid for. Immigrants  should not have free education, they have put b****r all into the pot. Poster,  you have been quiet for a while, welcome back. The Poles suffered a lot during Nazism, but it was not done in my name or my country's name, we cannot be expected to "fund" the peoples of Europe. If a political regime is holding you back, address it, do not expect the rest of us to pay your way. Immigrants, ask yourselves why you choose to come to the UK, be brutally honest, then you will know why we are for or against immigration, only in truth will you find the answer. .

  16. For it.....the people I know who are immigrants have done much more to deserve living here than those who were born here....

I want all the racists kicked out...

  17. Against this is are freakin country i say we get em out or we'll have serious problems.

  18. Nobody wants to immigrate to my country. Everyone wants to leave, even risking their lives

Why ? Because we have a dictatorship that we cannot tolerate, we cannot eliminate, and the only thing we can do is escape

  19. Against and here are my reasons why.

The NHS is 60 years old this year and has been funded over the years from contributions that british people have paid from their wages.  The same for our schools housing education and benefits.  Our parents and grandparents fought in two world wars and should be receiving some of these benefits that they have contributed towards.

They can't.... why?  because there is little funding left because we now have so many immigrants in this country that are claiming for these benefits and this mad government is giving them priority over the very people that paid into the system and made them available.

It is robbery and no one should be able to claim anything if they have not paid into the kitty.

Immigrants are demanding that we respect their religions when they have no respect for ours.

We are not allowed freedom of speech and have our own traditions changed for fear of being racist.

I could go on and on but until this government sorts out the situation then you will see more and more of ordinary people like myself becoming anti immigration.

  20. when i answer or ask a question like this it gets removed, why.

  21. i think people should be able to go where they want to speak there minds also i bc like my kinds thing that is going on is i have a son with a brailian man and i am from the usa thats where i met him @ so why would he be able to stay there with his family and son i am marrierd to him we are working on getting a family visa for him bc of the stupid laws they got in the usa

i think that people with kids from the usa should be able to stay there

  22. Legal immigration is good

    Illegal is bad

For all the well known reasons we debate each and every day on Y/A

  23. Controlled immigration.....I am all for. But it is not controlled, it is a mess. The boarders are far too weak & the Government has no idea  who is leagally in the country. Basically I would like to see that the people that have paid into  a tax system for decades beifit in some way. Have their views &  beliefs taken into account. If I fell on hard times now I would lose my house. But immigrants are given free accommadation. My payment of tax over a period of decades should provide me with some security but it does not

  24. My country (UK) was built on immigration so im for it

  25. I'm against the British scroungers who refuse to work but claim everything they can get making it necessary to have all the influx of migrant workers coming here to fill the short fall in employment.

  26. Totally against it.  We do not have the infrastructure to manage the numbers or the quality of the kind of people being attracted .

  27. 'Blanket' "immigration" by the bungled and the botched - the 'expendable, great unwashed, disease-ridden' "come on in, here's a Council flat, money, and, free health care" 'economic migrant' 'masses' (sorry to be so direct, but, unless common sense 'stands on its hind legs, now that the water has reached the chin') no. However, I am all for controlled "immigration" (with thorougly carried out health checks upon 'entry' into the United Kingdom, having been put in place, and, applied.)
