  1. For them. Our monarchy are not perfect but they didnt blindly lead our country to war with the worst evidence imaginable as the president of the good old U.S of A did. The government however is a separate issue. The whole world treats our Queen with respect. Oh by the way, the Queen pays taxes!

  2. against! Theyre nothing but a bunch of people being paid obscene amounts of money for pretty much nothing other than smiling and waving from cars! they live in absolute luxury while others in the world starve and children die. It's disgusting and obscene. The British Monarch should be toppled! sooner rather than later.

  3. i am for the monarchy as i think that is a symbol of britain and that it does no harm to anyone. also it brings in lots of money from tourism

  4. I'm not For or Against it as the monarchy has it's positive and negative sides...

  5. there are many reason for and against--money seems to be the main reason when I scroll through the answers

I have been told that a constitutional monarchy is the most economical way to run a country

I think that the queen is a better person/ruler/human then Bush

If you don't want to curtsy then just don't

  6. They're useless now, nothing more than a remnant of the old British Empire.  What makes a person a monarch anyway?  They're just the same species like the rest of us.  But I got say, that they've been around for a very long time and have been a huge part in most parts of the world during the reign of the British Empire.  Some of the countries around the world existed now due to their colonization.  I'm not against, just curious about they contribute now to western civilization (other than publicity).

  7. Well since Im an American I don't really think its any of my business. We have enough problems with our own leaders in this country to worry about without me deciding to worry about leaders in another country. Personally the monarchy in the UK has been around longer than we have had non-native people living here. If it works for them then we should but out.

  8. For.  it would not cost us any less to have an elected president, and that would mean yet more boring elections.  The royal family are cheap at the price.

  9. i am totally for it , because it supports British culture

  10. against as they are pointless, take more than they give from the common people, are a joke, are from a bygone age that is not as relevant to our society as it used to be

    and

for simply because they bring in teh tourisim that they do, which makes the country money

and that is their only use

  11. For. They do not cost as much as people think. 60p a year from every taxpayer. We use far more than that from free government services such as the NHS. In fact, in light of today's news, it seems that our MPs are claiming far more than the Monarchy are ever given. The Queen works amazingly hard for an 81 year-old. Last year alone she performed over 400 public duties (that's more than one a day!). She deserves the money she gets. They bring in millions (possibly billions) of tourist dollars and are an impartial representative of the United Kingdom and a constant through all of our political change.

  12. for    explain ? if i have to explain then you would not understand the same as all those  against, who probably would not do anything for their country but will sit back & snipe at thoes who do or would,

the queen has served this country well from an early age.

let me put it this way, i am  british, english,

  13. i dont know why theyre royal first, and theyre juss a waste of space...

spending all the tax payers money for nuthing.........

    who made them royal anyway?

  14. For, because I've rather have an unelected Head of State with no real power than an elected politician. The Queen's first duty is towards the country, a politician's first duty would be towards his party. We would also lose out if the monarchy was abolished. People go and see round Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle because they are working residences, they would not be half as popular if they were just kept as museums.

It would cost more to elect a President every few years than to keep a monarch on the throne.

  15. waste of space the lot of them

  16. neither,because i don't live in England...

  17. double diamonds:  well duh, the british monarch has no power therefore could not send troops to another country for war.

I am for the British monarchy.  Their lives are steeped in tradition and they bring in revenue by attracting tourists.  The monarch has been around a long long time and it would be sad to see a Great Britain without one.

  18. I am very much for The Monarchy. As for why I suppose I have never really given it very much thought.

I suppose if you were to ask an American or a French person if they should have their Presidents or their Prime Ministers to lead their country's they would tell you the same thing.

Britain and the United Kingdom would not exist today if it wasn't for the efforts of the British Monarchy, it was through the efforts of the Kings and Queens of our past that the four countries making up the UK were united under one flag.

Also as much as it is the popular belief that members of the Monarchy are spongers from the British people that is so wrong, many royals have jobs and earn their money, they also all pay taxes, including the Queen so they are contributing to the economy. Most of the high ranking royals are great patrons for charity's that they belive in and spend quite a lot of their time helping to raise money for those charities.

Our Queen is a great diplomat and it is through her that we are able to keep our relations with many foreign countries open and friendly, left up to our government alone the only friends we would have on this planet would be America and while that in itself is most definitely not a bad thing it is good to have friendly relations with others as well.

The Queen and her family love this country and it's people, you will just find that they get a lot of bad press because as we all know the British media is not happy unless they are painting everyone in a bad light.  I do believe that as British Citizens we owe it our Monarchy to be loyal.

  19. I am all for Prince William- He's a hottie.

Anybody know how I can get him to marry me?  Would I need a new haircut?

  20. Come the revolution comrade they will be first against the wall...

  21. Sorry, I doesn't seem to care at all :)
