Are you friends with anyone whose had their first period pretty late in age?

I'm 13 and I know I shouldn't be worried about getting it for the first time because this is usually the peak of age for girls to get it (unless I'm worrying about getting it in the middle of class unprepared).

But it's kind of strange because all the girls I know already have it (same age) and my mum got it at 11.

I was also wondering if there are any funny stories behind getting your first period?

Yep,

my best friend didn't have hers until last year.

She got it 3 days before she turned 15.

Don't worry about it.. you will be bleeding in no time(that sounded weird)

When I got mine I was at church and I was 13 I just felt odd so i went to the bathroom and Eww.

It seemed like everyone got theirs before me so I wanted mine too.

It sucks I wish I still was waiting for my period!

Enjoy not having to worry about it.

I know someone who didn't take theirs till they were about 14/15. I took mines when i was 10.

but you can take it as late as 16. so your normal.

Believe you me, you really don't want to get them. enjoy the freedom of not having them. because when you do eventually take them you'll want to go back to the times when you didn't have them.

Funny this should be posted now, my friends and I just hurt our other friend's feelings very badly last night unintentionally. We are all 16, and got our periods around 12/13. The one girl still doesn't have it.

I wouldn't know, but judging by how sensitive my friend is about it, I would say that being the last one to get it is kind of annoying, but from the point of veiw of someone who does have it, it's something that can definitely ruin your day and not something to be wanetd!!! You will get it eventually and until then, just chill. It's not big deal : )

I got mine at 13 and I didn't know it, except all of a sudden I felt kinda well...squishy (ew). My best friend didn't get hers till she was 16. And now, now we dread it like every other woman!

I had a friend who had never seen a tampon in her life when she was 13. We were sitting in PE, and there was a tampon on the floor. It was out of the package, but not used. A few of us were just sort of laughing, but she started freaking out, and we were like - chill out, it's not even used. And she just said "Oh, well I've never seen a tampon before." It was kind of funny. But maybe it was just because everyone was in a funny sort of mood that day. It was an interesting thing to see though. Anyways, you don't want it. I think it's better to get it later. You may feel left out or whatever, but periods really suck. Plus, once you get it you're going to get it every month until you reach around your 50's. You get used to it, but I really don't know anybody that looks forward to getting their period (once they've already started.)

There really isn't a age. I got mine when I was 10. It was funny because, we had just got back from a party and I was tired. So I went to the bathroom and saw blood. I was like "Yeah, right. Maybe It's just because I was sleepy." So when I woke up and went to the bathroom it was all over my underwear. I was like NOOOO! So I tried to hide it from my mom and she ended up finding the hard way when she was doing my laundry. Then school came. I was in the 5th grade and no one else had started. It felt so awkward but now all my friends have it. So just wait, you will have yours Soon enough. I think if you go to Kotex.com they have some advice and how to tell if your's is coming up.

Oh btw im 13. My friend just got hers like a week ago.

I know a few other girls that got their period at a later age. I was 11 when i got mine, but my best friend didn't get hers until she was 16.  Nothing was wrong, that was just when her body was ready.

when i first got my period it was weird because i was askin my sis why i havent got it yet and the day after I got it:(

so dont bring it up and maybe it wont come for a little while, lol.

Well I find it kind of weird, but it's certainly not funny.

I got my first period when I was twelve, two weeks before Christmas. A girl I used to be friends with got hers exactly one week after that. Then on Christmas eve, my other friend got hers. (so we are all within a week of each other)

I got my first period soon after i turn 13. My mom got it at 12 and my sister at 11. Believe me you don't want it. If  you're worried about getting it in the middle of class just wear a panty liner and keep a pad with you incase you get in class. You will know when you will get it. You will probably have cramps before and be a little moody.
