I just heard that a convoy of truckers are bringing in a million gallons of bottled water and thousands of blankets and stuff. Wow!

I am expecting lots of news reports of a proper response to the crisis. If the government can spend hundreds of billions of dollars on the "War on Terror" they can at least spend 10% of that if necessary to prevent a catastrophe.

There's something about Katrina that no one talks about. When the hurricane hit, the streets were filled with every kind of household and industrial chemical. Some of them were very abrasive chemicals, not good for your health. Citizens had to walk through that water.

Not only do people and pets need to be evacuated properly, they need to dispose of as much chemical hazards as they can.

How do I feel about looters? I think if it's a matter of life and death, looters should be given a pass. It depends on what they steal. If a looter steals expensive jewelry, he should get a long jail term. If a looter steals water or potato chips or dogfood or something like that, it should be dismissed.
