  1. Let us stop using fancy words. you meman a complete trade slump. The answer is no in prepaaring for it in the way suggested it collectively intensifies the effect. So how the h**l we get out of it  or reduce the effects I have no idea.

  2. i am from usa i can't say about what britains should do ,but i don't usually react to the economy as a whole ,i have saved money for years as a hedge against hard times and if me and my wife are both working full ,we save a little and spend a lot,if work slows or i get unemployed, then we cut back on spending till it gets better,it's not a fool proof plan but it has served me well.but gasoline is a wild card it might bring the whole house down ,but i will drive less i guess.................tom

  3. Getting ready for a Recession?  No, I'm getting ready for economic collapse perpetrated by our government.

We borrow $2.2 Billion a day from Asian countries (mostly China and Japan) just to keep our economy a float.  We are in debt $9 Trillion and rising everyday.  Our government keeps spending money it doesn't have and keeps adding government bureaucracy and more social programs on top of that.

The Federal Reserve, who is neither federal, nor a reserve, keeps printing money out of thin air and not backed by anything.  This causes massive inflation and devaluing of our money.

Once the world catches up that we can't pay our debt and our money is worthless, they will look towards another currency as payment for oil.  Probably the Euro.  After that, our economy will totally collapse and be forced to make a North American pact that will create the North American Union.  That will establish a new currency to rival the Euro, but will leave our beloved Constitution null and void....

  4. Save Save Save!!  thats my plan.. get all my bills paid off, being on my best behavior at my job (cant afford to lose it, not too many out there)  and saving.. I thought about investing in silver or gold but I'd feell better knowing exactly where my savings is..

  5. you mean depression don't you as we are already in a recession, yesterday I went out and bought a good book to read while standing in the soup line and no it wasn't Obama's book as I said a good book////

  6. Most people would "save for a rainy day". Hope for the best, and plan for the worst.

Governments never seem to do that. When times are good, they spend. When times are bad, they spend even more regardless if the people can afford the taxes or not. It's stupid, and yet people fall for every d**n little "gimme" program the government offers thinking that they don't have to worry about downturns in the economy.

Recessions can happen at any time. It's those who think that some one else will take care of them that causes any economic disturbance to drag on forever.

  7. Yes it comes every 30 years or so. Some belt tighening, a few smart decissions and we come out of it none the worse.

  8. I think Britan and the US are both in the same boat.  As we move towards world government, the comparably affluent lifestyles of the West have to be brought down to be more in line with the rest of the world.  I think the problems in Britan and the US are only going to get worse, and I think that it won't be a recession, which has an eventual end, but I think it'll be permanent,  lowering our standard of living, and dropping the status of Britan and the US as world leaders, down to just another two countries in the new ? League of Nations, or whatever it ends up being called.

  9. We have taken a number of steps to reduce our costs, firstly we have CFL lighting all around our home saving us over £100 a year & now we are in the process of converting our family car t run partly on water & petrol. We found the information regarding this here:

    http://cheappetrolprices.blogspot.com

I think it is out duty to at least TRY & reduce the costs of running our cars & vehicles seeing as it is us that has pumped all the toxic fumes into out atmosphere in the last 100 years or so. By doing this you will also save 60% of the running costs of your car. I wish I had heard about this years ago.
