I have read the order and I think that its pretty serious.... Go agenst the decisions of the President and you can loose your property??? Isnt that Tyranny? Have the American people slept so long that we have allowed even something like this slip in?

  1. Mr/Ms Justice,

I clicked on the URL you provided - 'file cannot be found'. I guess I won't be able to make a decision until I read about it.

  2. No, it is not "go aganst the decisions of The President" and lose your property.

First, there is no 'taking' of property.  The order only freezes the assets until the specific charges can be addressed in court.

Second, here are the things you have to do in order to put your property at risk:

    ----------------------------

    (i) to have committed, or to pose a significant risk of committing, an act or acts of violence that have the purpose or effect of:

    (A) threatening the peace or stability of Iraq or the Government of Iraq; or

    (B) undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq or to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people;

(ii) to have materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, logistical, or technical support for, or goods or services in support of, such an act or acts of violence or any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order; or

(iii) to be owned or controlled by, or to have acted or purported to act for or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order.

    (b) The prohibitions in subsection (a) of this section include, but are not limited to, (i) the making of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services by, to, or for the benefit of any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order, and (ii) the receipt of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services from any such person.

    ------------------------------

So the bottom line is:  Dont plan terror acts or attacks on the government of Iraq / dont give money to people who are planning terror acts and attacks against the government of Iraq.

This executive order is in response to several groups attempting to raise funds to support the insurgency in Iraq from the USA.  No matter what your opinion of the war, I think we can all agree that Iraqi's should settle their governmental and political issues peacefully, not with ethnic cleansing and assassination.  Hence the EO that allows the department of justice to freeze assets of people who are supporting the violence over there.

US political protesters / opponents and those supporting non-violent factions in Iraq are not subject to any of the terms of this EO

  3. THIS IS GETTING  S C A R E Y  !

  4. Look again.

You would have to be using your property in some way(mortgage, loan collateral) to directly attempt to slow or adversely effect what is going on in Iraq.

So rant and rave all you want about the war just do not fund terrorists with your land.
