or cant? We have not been able to see the s*x because of a cord in between his/her legs. I don't think I will get another sonogram so we are trying to plan to find clothes for either girl or boy... which is so hard its not as fun as knowing and can buy those cute BOY or GIRL stuff.. I have 1 girl and 2 boys, so we are happy either way. But how are you doing it as not knowing the s*x? your experiences and colors?

  1. Personally, I loved the suspense of not knowing. It's kind of nice to not have any expectation before the birth, of what your baby is going to be like.

We bought nice wee white sets, and plenty red, green, yellow and orange babygro's!  Do you have wee clothes from your older kids? As long as you have a few wee neutral outfits for the first few days, I'll bet there will be gifts of clothes soon!

Enjoy the suspense! It's like the run up to christmas as a kid!

Oh yeah - and my friend in the states just had her baby ('it's a girl' she was told) and he's a lovely surprise! Unfortunately they had bought loads of pink stuff and decorated the nursery with girly stuff. there is always a risk they are wrong!!!

  2. I know this is kind of wrong, but you could lie to your Dr. and say you fell or something and that you want anothber ultrasound.

  3. Lying is never the answer, especially when there are women who really do need scans for real medical reasons.

I found out, because I wanted to put together a gender-specific nursery and buy a gender-specific layette.

I didn't want my baby wearing all green and yellow.

Plus, if I found out, then at my shower, I can get gender-specific gifts.

If you really want to know, you can get a 4D scan. That way you don't have to lie or fake an accident, and you won't be taking up appointment times from women who need them.

I called my local 4D location and told them I didn't want a DVD or framed photos (because most 4D studios give out packages, upwards of $125)

I told them I just wanted to find out my baby's gender, and they charged me $100 and I still got really nice printouts, and got to watch my baby for over 20 minutes.

    Worth every penny, to me.

    Good luck

  4. We decided not to find out even though we could have, because we wanted to wait and find out as a surprise when the baby is born. We are perfectly happy either way, and don't have a preference at all. I didn't think it was all that unusual, but most of my friends are shocked that we didn't want to know, and most of them seem to think we secretly know and just aren't telling!

We're buying white and cream outfits, and making sure that the pram, cot, car seat etc are all neutral colours. That makes sense anyway because we're planning on having more than one and we'll no doubt want to reuse most things!

Having said all that, I'm still using old wives tales to try to guess what we're having, because it's fun! ;-)

  5. I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant. I cant wait to found out the s*x. My boyfriend wants a boy(of course). But either way i just want to have a healthy baby.

  6. I don't know if this will help you figure out the s*x or not, but in almost all the cases I have heard...

If you feel the baby riding higher in your stomach, than you're having a boy.

If you feel the baby riding much lower, your having a girl..

I noticed this with me... My first pregnancy was a girl and she rode so low. Now I'm pregnant with our son, and he's riding much higher.

My mom told me this and my friend also agreed when she had her son.

I don't know how much this helps, but thought I'd share this with you.

  7. I wanted to find out. Im the kinda person that hates surprises lol. We also wanted to find out because if its a boy we were gonna name him after my cousin and we wanted to make sure it was ok with his father first. We had a girl and gave her the middle name rose for all the people in our lives living and those who passed/ shell pass that impacted out lives. My husband was away at college 2 hours away so he wasn't there when we found out. So i had to call him and tell him. My sister father didn't want to find out with there last child if it was a girl or a boy because they had 3 miscarriages and had them all after they found out. So they didn't and his family got kinda mad at him but he didn't care. They did the nursery in a blues and browns... so that it could work for a boy or a girl. This was about 9-10 years ago. They ended up having a boy.

  8. I'm only a little over 6 weeks and I can't wait to find out.  Bummer that you couldn't get a good peep at the baby to see if it's a boy or girl.

As for the surprise...just think, we'll be surprised when the doctor tells us just as much as we'll be surprised when it's delivered.  It's just knowing early on is so much easier to get the room ready and to buy for.  Congratulations and I hope baby works with you next time.

  9. We found out with all 3 of ours.  They were right all 3 times.

I kind of wish that we wouldn't have for either the first one or the last one.  But - we did.  I am a very organized person and it would've drove me nuts not being able to plan and buy things!  Apparently this baby wants to be a surprise to you!  Let it be a surprise!

  10. I didnt find out when I was pregnant cuz she was being shy and had her legs kinda crossed and curled up. I just bought a red buggy, and cream coloured cot sheets/ blankets. And I got some really cute unisex sleepsuits from Next (in the UK). I thought Id be really excited to find out once I had her, but I kinda forgot I didnt know, it wasnt until the midwive held her up and said look and see what you've got. And... I honestly didnt care at the time!! lol. I was just glad that she was out and it was over!!! Oh well. I think if I get pregnant again, I wouldnt find out. It just made my pregnancy a bit more interesting.

  11. My husband & I actually chose to wait till the birth. It'll be such a wonderful suprise =)

  12. Yellow, green and purple. That's the best you can do for now. I hope you are able to find out if that's what you want. I didn't want to know the s*x of my first baby, then changed my mind later on. So I ended up with a lot of those colors for her and it was fine. I'm having one of each this time and wanted to know ASAP. So either way works for me. When you think about it though, the pink and blue rule is really all about what adults like. Not that I would go out with a boy dressed in pink or anything, but the babies don't mind wearing "non-traditional" colors. I'm crocheting baby blankets that are black, white and red since that's what infants see best at first. Some people just think that's so weird. Good luck to you.
