  1. h**l yeah i will watch!! Good to see our national sport coming to fruition!! Rugby league is good but not as good as our national sport, Aussie rules is one of the features that makes our country unique!!! I want to see a team in every state and territory. its the best sport in the world!!! Go Port

  2. G'day mate, look, afl has potential here in Sydney, but only as an "optional" sport! Greater Western Sydney is a HUGE, sprawling place....so yes there is enormous potential the AFL should exploit, also hopefully it might make the NRL lift its game and fund Junior Clubs to retain our kids!

Having said that, knowing the injuries and the massive size differences between say 13 -15 year old kids, i wouldn't really want a son of mine playing RL in Sydneys West, against Samoan, Tongan and Maori kids bigger than most men! Cheers, WayneA. (BARRED YET AGAIN).

  3. AFL will never take over the NRL in terms of popularity in NSW. There are 10 teams in NSW in the NRL, and there will only be 2 in the AFL after 2010.

The AFL is popular in NSW, my sources being how many kids are playing Auskick. But NEVER will it be more popular than the NRL. There is no way known that Sydney will be able to support nine AFL teams like Melbourne could.

Same goes for Melbourne there is no way that they could support 9 NRL teams. Both codes are popular in each others cities, but AFL will never take over NRL in Sydney same as NRL will never take over AFL in Melbourne.

  4. Yes I will.  I am interested to see how the AFL's plan unfolds.

I suspect it is at the expense of some traditional Victorian clubs.

    Possibly Collingwood relocating to Queanbeyan

  5. i didnt bother to read wat u guys said but i think AY.F.L is da worst sport. I like soccer and i think Leuge is way better the AY.F.L.

i also think golf, table tennis, puseball and sports like that is betther than AY.F.L

  6. Woo hoo... another pathetic AFL supporter. AFL isn't taking over anything, it's a lame local sport that has trouble capturing an Australian market, therefore dooming it to always be second to Rugby League. If it was so good it would be an international sport, not an international mockery.

Ballet for those with no skills... Hmmm.... I guess NSW Ballerinas will be watching if the AFL can get some talent.

  7. The difference between N.S.W and Victoria is that Victoria has A.F.L but N.S.W has so many sports spread over such a wide demographic that A.F.L will only attract it's certain group in N.S.W just like Soccer, Rugby League, Union, Netball, Rowing, Basketball, Cricket, Horse Racing, Tennis, Cycling, Golf, just to name a few If N.S.W only had the one sport like Victoria then yes AFL would take over, but it's not going to take over anything it will just attract its own following which will be a small one. AFL is only appealing while the Swans are going well, when they aren't then AFL in N.S.W is dead, if you go to an AFL match in Sydney and ask people as they are walking out to name another team in the AFL competition alot of people will only be able to name the team that played against the Swans that day.

  8. No, it's all a pipe dream.

  9. omg you afl losers make me laugh

you keep saying that afl will take over australia lalalala bollshit

did you forget that OUTSIDE AUSTRALIA - AFL IS A NOTHING SPORT

    get that in your heads

and either way, the government would never allow it anyway

  10. While you are at it, you should also watch the story on Lauren Huxley. She is a true inspiration, much more so than any AFL or NRL boxhead.

  11. No.

  12. nope, id rather do my maths homework instead :)

  13. LOL.

omg. that was the most overdramatised piece I have ever seen, and quite biased in the way they presented it. Coincidence that they only went around to families who have kids playing AFL? Coincidence that they didn't show kids who chose to play League over Aussie Rules? and the way they had AFL fans saying that NRL was a game of thuggery and the AFL was a game of science...I was laughing that much...

The way they had it, AFL was looking for world domination in the next twenty years. and, honestly, forky, that is just not going to happen.

  14. once again, good stuff forky, you'll do me son.

  15. mate your a stirrer

picking on the little league fans like myself

    I LIKE IT

  16. are you kidding?,afl is only popular in places liked melbourne ,adelaide ,perth ,because(have you ever been to any of these places on a saturday they are dodo territory)there is no comparison rugby league IS the greatest game of all ,and no i will not be watching that 2nd rate tv show that has a habit of paying people to say what they want to hear.
