Question:

Are you happy to be regarded as self-loading cargo?

As a fare-paying airline passenger are you aware that the flight crew refer to you, often quite contemptuously, as the self-loading cargo? Shouldn't they respect those who are keeping them in jobs? I personally think they should all line up and salute the passengers as they board, and bow or curtsy. They might shine our shoes too when they have a moment (which is often since computers fly the planes these days).

  1. sounds splendidly self-explanatory to me, that "self-loading cargo"

and I agree that the cabin crew should be suitably deprecatory towards those who are paying their salaries. Except on low cost carriers who should probably continue to be rude and unhelpful towards those who expect something for nothing.

  2. What job do you do?????

Do you do this for your customers?

This is in fact what we are......... CARGO. Nothing more nothing less and if you see the *&"$ that they have to put up with from some of the SELF LOADING CARGO you will understand why they can be a bit contemptuous at times.

  3. As long as they get me and mine to our destination safely I don't really care.

I don't like the thought of the pilots worrying about the responsibility of carrying "souls" behind them.  In spite of computerised systems I'm glad there's still a human up front.

How would you feel about being called a "trolley dolly" or a "ball-bearing stewardess"?

ps     a Bb stewardess is a male trolley dolly.........think about it.

  4. If you think that is bad, you wouldn't want to hear the other versions!

Believe me, self loading cargo is tame.
