I worry for the Frigidaire

and all the goodies chilled in there

The poor neglected bacon and tomato

Let us speak of sour cream

and baked potato dreams

Onions. scallions, chives and maybe shallots

Out of reach and out of sight

still not safe this lonely night

Not forgotten, these delights

or my lusty appetites…

  1. Yes. While all is quiet in Kansas, here in Paris, I have just put some green beans on. I am going to have a salad with real tomatoes brought back from the south, some parsley and feta cheese. Extra virgin olive oil on that. Few drops of lemon, salt, pepper. French bread. Are you dreaming about breakfast?

  2. eh pretty good

    needs some work

  3. Well, you've worked up my appetite.  Yes, I am now hungry.

  4. Once, back in 1986, while in the deep stages of REM brought on by a 3 day acid trip, I wasn't hungry.

I have been hungry every other moment of my life.

  5. I've my sights on spaghetti

    Waiting, with tips getting dry

    Next to beef cornbread

    Begging family for a try

    Monday's tuna casserole,

    All covered with cheese.

    Tuesday's fried chicken.

    Now, which one will please...

    Me?

  6. "It was just OK for me"

  7. You've made me hungry for a 'mater sammich.

  8. Funny you mentioned baked potato that happens to be my dinner for tonight, with of course sour cream no chives or shallots or scallions, wish I had some that would have made it even better!!  Glad I just ate because you made it sound yummy and don't want to be raiding the refrigerator !!

    Cheers !!

  9. My stomach tis fair awash in hunger's bitter gravy!

Fear not the kitchen, go boldly forth and prepare the feast!

(I've got Chorizo sausage, new potatoes and really long green beans, time for supper!)

  10. If you hadn't already noticed, an inordinately large percent of my scrawls are devoted to food. It pleases me greatly that you have descended to this level. I sincerely hope that I have been a bad influence on you. This could have been written by me, except for the word "Frigidaire." I would have gone with "ice box," not to give it an old-timey flavor, but it rhymes well with "nice lox." De gustibus.

  11. Let's see! There's black bean soup of indeterminate age.  Feta Cheese nicely packed in brine, Sundry pickles, and four different Chinese sauces, as well a Thai peanut sauce, this year's black raspberry jam, alongside the Cross and Blackwell mint  jelly to go with lamb and four fruit sweetened diet preserves of various types, a good chunk of Roquefort and an excellent extremely sharp cheddar, Onions both red and white awaiting the grill.  I'm afraid my fridge is a mess again!

  12. That kind of ruined my appetite....=/

  13. No thank you, I just strapped on a big ole feed bag myself, but thanks anyway. That reminds me, I gotta clean out the fridge--does sour cream EVER go bad, or does it just go more bad?

Tomato, by the way, was my favorite word choice in this piece.

  14. Um...yummy ...... now I am, thanks a lot, TD.....nobody went to the store yet!  Looks like it's Chinese or pizza....again, lol.

  15. As I respond to your question, it is 2:20 AM in New York. I was fine before, but now I'm suddenly starving. I wondrer if I have a nutribar somewhere...

  16. Oh a lovely poem.

    But I've been having thoughts

    of bacon & vanilla shake

    in my Frigidaire all day.

    I don't know why

    & now your verse

    has made me hungry

    so I will go eat

& be up all night digesting.

It will be ALL your fault T.D.

  17. well, it 5:15 am...thanks for the reminder to have some breakfast.  And to buy groceries!
