  1. I'm changing it.

  2. this has been difficult for me.  HE expects me to change my name.  the only reason i would feel uncomfortable keeping my name or hyphenating it would be in the case that we'd have children...what name would they carry???  i will probably take his just for that reason, but i am not 100% sure yet

  3. I changed mine because it was my ex-husband's last name. And before that, it was my stepfather's name, and I hated that man - he was a horrible person.

I actually changed my last name to my husband's name several months before we got married. Just went to court and did it - it cost $100. That way, when I was planning for the wedding, I didn't have to worry about that little detail - it was already done. Plus, I also wanted to drop my first name and change my middle name, so it was just easier to do it before hand.

It did cause some issues when they filed the marriage license, though - because my "maiden" name and my husband's last name were already the same. But we got it straightened out.

  4. That's a very popular course for many women to take. I hated my last name just becaue it didn't "sound" good lol.

It's COOL to have a new name!

  5. I'm changing it--I don't have anything to do with my father so losing my current last name won't bother me at all.

  6. I chaged mine- 3 weeks ago- Yet I Always forget.  Everythime I sign something I sign with my old last name.

  7. I am keeping my last name and giving it to my second son...so to pass on my last name (my last name is rare and my brother will not be having children)

  8. I changed it. It is just easier to have the same name, plus you don't want your kids to ask "mommy, why is my last name different than yours??" Way too confusing!

  9. I'm changing mine. My current last name belongs to my ex husband and my maiden name belongs to my father and we don't get along these days. Besides I can honestly say that I like my fiance's last name.

  10. I'm keeping it apparently because I'm a guy... My fiance is keeping her middle name and changing her last to mine.

  11. I am taking my fiance's last name and changing my middle name to maiden name to follow tradition on my mom's side of the family.

  12. I will be changing it!  I can't wait to get rid of it!!  My father has not been in my life for over 15 yrs.

  13. I took my husband's name.  I dropped my last name completely and kept my middle name.

    I

  14. Changing it, so much more convenient. He can't change his, he'll have papers out in his name by then. I will have just graduated, so it won't matter one jot.

  15. I'm changing my last name.

  16. I'll be changing it.  Going from one unusal last name to another unual one suits me fine!  :-)

  17. I kept my maiden name for almost 5 years. The timing was never right for me to switch last names... What really triggered me was my first son. I realized I was introducing myself as Mrs.Husband's last name on a regular basis. And my son assumed I had the same last name.

When I changed my name, I dropped my maiden name completely.

  18. changed it...though about hyphenating it...but it took too long to write...I use both last names though.

  19. I'm changing it only because I'm sick of spelling my last name for all and sundry.  I am also changing my middle name to my mother's original name (changed when she was adopted by stepfather).

My sister kept her maiden name because that is the name she used to earn her PhD.  However, for social situations, anything addressed to Mr. and Mrs. or using her husband's last name is fine with her.

  20. I am in the process of changing it.  My father (if you want to call him that) wouldn't even come to the wedding.  I don't want to have anything to do with him.  I would have changed it anyway though.  Sorry just had to vent for a sec.

  21. Ah,

The woman whom is smart never changes her surname for a male just because he has his and your married

If you get a divorce... well... every time you write it... it comes back to haunt you....

  22. I'm changing my last name and keeping my middle name. I have always loved my middle name, which is after my grandmother. Plus, I don't really have special attachment to my maiden name - I'm very close to my family, but my Grandfather's sister raised him and didn't know who his father was, so she made up a last name for him, lol - made things easier for me!

  23. I am changing mine!
