Are you legally allowed to land a powered hang glider on a public beach in the UK? What about a microlight?

Is there anywhere I can find out about the air laws in the UK (criminal and civil) so I can fly without causing problems. Are you required to have insurance?

I understand you need a licence to fly a microlight but not a powered hang glider - is that right?

  1. You need a licence to fly anything (flying is defined in law in terms of feet above the ground).  Yes you will need insurance for a powered aircraft and there are restrictions on where to land or take off but normally the beach is OK.

  2. proberbly  only in an emergency but anything else NO

  3. No
