Before buying a new car would you guys and gals please please please read the safety ratings on the car that you buy. Especially if it's for a family member or a loved one. What constitutes a safe car is totally counterintuitive. The way it is now we have small cars that end up being far safer than cars much larger and heavier.Do not buy a first year car model right away before the safety ratings are released since you don't know what you are buying.Do not assume that just because the car appears big and heavy automatically equates to a safe vehicle. Once again, what makes a car safe is counterintuitive. Much of the safety is hidden in thousands of man hours worth of engineering and passive and active safety features that are mostly not visible from outside the car.Do not forget that trucks and SUV's do roll over. It's a reality and they roll over far more frequently than passenger cars. They also have gas tanks located in bad places where they might breach in an accident.
