  3. Our records say we are Scots-Irish, which is to say Scots that were transplanted to Ireland to irritate the Irish, and then moved to America in order to have better opportunities in life.

  4. Yes, I am an American  of primarily Scottish descent from all four of my grandparents:

--- My maternal grandmother mother's family descend from a John Macquarrie, a native of Eigg (an island in the Inner Hebrides), who was transported by the Crown to the Colonies after the Battle of Culloden.  The Macquarries intermarried primarily with Scots and Scots-Irish settlers along the way from North Carolina to Kentucky to Texas, although my great grandmother married an Irish Canadian whose parents immigrated from Donegal.

--- My maternal grandfather's family (Hendersons and MacLachlans) in part immigrated from Argyll to North Carolina around 1800; one of his ancestors, a Christian McLachlan, died at the Battle of Culloden.  Christian's father, Daniel, was a Church of Scotland minister.

---My paternal grandmother's mother's family were MacDonalds from the Isle of Skye, who immigrated to North Carolina shortly before the American Revolution. Her father's mother was a Tait.

---Finally, my paternal grandfather's mother's family traces one of its family lines back through a John Crawford, the youngest son of the Earl of Crawford, who was killed while taking part in Bacon's Rebellion, an early revolt against the whiskey tax in Colonial Virginia.  Burke's Peerage traces the Crawford family back to James II and then on back to Robert the Bruce and beyond!  My Smith ancestors, I don't know about except I can trace them back to New Hampshire in 1800.

Ancestry.com claims I'm related to Robert Louis Stevenson (twice), L. M. Montgomery (twice), George Ross, John Glenn, J. M. Barrie, Elvis Presley, Andrew Johnson, Mark Twain, Robert Frost, and Davy Crockett--not to mention Elizabeth II through the Queen Mum.

  5. st andrews day was my great grandfathers day so his ancestors were Scottish

  6. I'm Scottish  :)  With Scots/Irish grandparents.

    "whaes like us"...lol

  7. Yes, indeed I am.  Many of my ancestors are from Scotland.

  8. yes

  9. Alexander Graham Bell isn't just partly Scottish, he IS Scottish.  He was born in Edinburgh, just off Princes Street.  You forgot Andrew Carnegie & John Paul Jones.  I always thought Anistohn was relsated to Greek people (she has some connection to Telly Savalas), as for Gwen Stefani....sounds Italian to me, but maybe you are thinking of her husband Gavin Rossdale from Bush.  Never figured out how Hilfiger is a Scottish name.  Sounds German to me.  Don't get me wrong, I think it's nice those people want to associate with Scotland, but please, don't try to invent some ancestry to back it up.

  10. Scotts are pretty beast....
