Question:

Are you one of those people who...?

Can't stand it when, example, you're out with a friend, and neither of you has anything to say? and its just silence?

Personally, I hate it when people say "So...?" when it gets quiet. I feel forced to say something, and its usually something pointless. I don't know, maybe its just me. I'm more of the thinker,musician-y type that observes everything. But why do some people (actually, most of the people that I know) always HAVE TO have a conversation going on because they think its awkward when no one says anything?

Thanks for your answers! :)

  1. I'm happy to say that your not the only one, my friend. Always, always, either when im chatting or just talking, my friends go like soo uhmmmm and that just makes me go angrier and I want to let them talk now. And sometimes I feel I'm boring because I have the other person talking and talking and when it's quiet I just can't think of a topic to talk about... And just sometimes something pops out of my mind and we start to talk more but that barely happens... But then it happens to be somethin intersting. But I usually hate those awkard moments when I think the other person is felling forced to talk so I make my best to think about something, but nothing comes out. Lol...

  2. That's interesting ... when I'm with FRIENDS we can go all night with nothing being said ... though we usually have something to talk about ... silences are not awkward between friends.

  3. I agree. A little mystery goes a long way.

  4. lol it only bothers me when it's someone I dont really know.  With my boyfriend (of 3 years) we can easily be quiet and it's fine. theres not always something to talk about. why force it. just enjoy the persons company.

  5. Actually I enjoy being around people that I can share a comfortable silence with. I do not think there is a need to always be discussing something if the people who are together have an understanding of who the other person is. Although I feel this way it does not really bother me when some people feel the need to fill those silences either. Some of the best conversations I've had were unplanned.

  6. If I am going to be with someone I want to communicate.  If not then I want to be alone to read or do something I want to do.  But I find people interesting and so I get them to talk about themselves and can learn a lot.  What I always hated was going someplace where the music is loud and then having someone  determined to talk over it.  GRRRRR.

  7. I hate uncomfortable silences as much as I hate being forced to talk. I like those silences where you feel connected to something or someone and nothing can break that silence.

  8. when i am comfortable in some ones presence and comfortable with the silence i really feel in tune with that person. if we both have to chitter or chatter then i feel there is something missing.
