Question:

Are you or do you know anyone who is related to Mary, the mother of Jesus? (geneologically) [Anyone alive?]?

If you are not and know no one, do you at least think, IF there is anyone alive today who is geneologically related to Mary the mother of Jesus?

It would be funny if someone actually is and nobody including that person/s know/s it. (although all they might have is bragging rights like Jenna, Chelsea, etc).

If no one really knows, the geneology of Jesus up to Adam in the exact is truly spirit led since one can easily lose documentations, much less preserving it through ages (data or truth). Some people today dont even know their 4th, 5th and upwards generation.

Hope, "they" didn't die off however.:-)

So, what's up?

  1. If you believe the Merovingian lineage from Charlemagne back to Jesus, then both Ted Pack and I are Mary's grandchildren to the Nth degree. Ted was blessed with the wit and charm. I have been blessed with better hair and more kids.

Of course, you have to believe that Charlemagne didn't lie and that Jesus had three children.

Saint Sarah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some authors, [9] [10] [11] taking up themes from the pseudohistorical book Holy Blood, Holy Grail , suggest that Sarah was the daughter of Mary Magdalene and Jesus.

Mary Magdalene was of royal descent (through the Jewish House of Benjamin) and was the wife of Jesus, of the House of David. That she was a prostitute was slander invented by the Church to obscure their true relationship. At the time of the Crucifixion, she was pregnant. After the Crucifixion, she fled to Gaul, where she was sheltered by the Jews of Marseille. She gave birth to a daughter, named Sarah."

What better subject for an addition to my Unlikely Icon series! This is the 3rd Unlikely Icon which depicts the Holy Family II (Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and Sarah). I used various icons of the original Holy Family (Mary, Joseph, and Jesus) as the basis for my icon.

One interesting thing I found in this particular positioning of the Holy Family is that the halos of the adults intersect at each other's center and the mother's halo slightly overlaps the child's halo. The child's dimensions are also exactly half the adults.

HERE IS AN ICONS WITH SARA/ MARY/JESUS

  3. After the destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman Empire in approximately 70 C.E. ( or A.D., as it was formerly referred to) and the final disporia where those former citizens of Judea were scattered throghout said empire as slaves, it would be virtually impossible for anyone to actually trace his or her ancestoral roots back to any one person of that era.

Such an inquest would also be made difficult due in no small part to the lack of available/existing records from that time.

Legends (which offer no historical proof) exist which tell that Jesus (also referred to as Essa, or Isa in Islam, Yeshua or Yoshua bar or bin Yoseph in Hebrew) was wed to Mary of Magdelene, that she went to what was then Europe after his death and that her offspring have founded a dynasty of royalty in various nations throughout Europe.

Any claims would be doubious at best.

  4. There are probably lots of people who are related to Mary, the mother of Jesus.  But if would be impossible to have documented evidence that would meet professional genealogical standards that will connect to her.

You have to understand that too many records have been destroyed. Also much of the records of the ancient Hebrews were oral tradition.

Most people are doing very good to get back to the 1600s.  If they make a connection  to a royal line, they might get back to the first melenium in that family line.

You have to understand that surnames were not used by Hebrews and were not used by Europeans until the last melennium. In England most people had one by the 14th century and still it was a couple of more centuries, in many cases, where the same surname was passed down from father to son in each generation.  In the Netherlands it wasn't until the period of Napoleon that they took a surname.

When surnames were taken or assigned it wasn't impossible for legitimate sons of the same man to have a different surname and still they each could have shared their surname with others with whom they were not related.

Now, you might see some family trees on some of the genealogy websites that take their family lines back to Julius Caesar and even Adam and Eve.  Most family trees online don't have documentation to back them up.  I would assume those that go back to the royal line of David and things like that are based solely on speculation and any documentation the subscriber has is very flimsy.

Also, a lot of people don't know the difference between a history book and a historical novel.

Like Ted Pack(one of our regular posters), Genevieve's Mom sometimes has her tongue in her cheek.

  5. I read somewhere that Mary was a member of the tribe of Levi, I am also fascinated by Mary's lineage, for instance who was her grandfather and did she have uncles and aunts.

  6. The tribe of Levi theory has wide support, Jesus himself was predicted by the OT to be of the House of David, which is downline from Aaron... so he would be Haplogroup J1*, like his father, grandfather, etc, etc.
