  1. i work at a youth shelter and a lot of our kids are in gangs.  often these kids come from families where they weren't given much attention, or one or both parents were gone or emotionally unavailable (drugs, working too much, etc.)  Usually people tend to join gangs to feel as though they belong somewhere.  A sense of brotherhood, belonging, it often gives them a purpose.  To look out for their other brothers (or sisters) and watch their turf.

  2. I recently joined HOG. It's only a gang in basic definition of terms. I am one of the youngest guys there as it is mainly people who are well off enough to afford a Harley as a second or third vehicle and they just want to "ride their bikes and have fun with others who have similar interests".

  3. No, I had a bad experience with gangs though.  The city I lived in in New York turned into a gang haven really quickly and I got attacked by female initiates while I was walking home one night.  Then there was a big gang shoot-out downtown a few years later.  They're closing all the hang-out spots and the mall now.  I hope they find a way to stop it!

  4. well, in some of the cases i have encountered most of the people in gangs are those who lack social acceptance. they are also driven to have to social identity.

  5. yes, because he needs some favor

  6. no i don't know any one that is in a gang. but when i was like 15 i knew little kids that would just make up a name and call it a gang but it's pretty dump when you think about it's immature.
