  1. My baby is 8 weeks. I was supposed to go back to work when he was 6 weeks. He has been a little colicky and we are having breastfeeding problems that I hope will straighten themselves out soon. I hope to never have to go back to work. I dont want to leave my baby with anyone else. I'm trying to put it off as much as I can, so my husband will see that I need to stay home....

  2. I took 12 weeks off after my son was born, went back for a day and decided that I wanted to stay home.  Luckily I am able to do that and I have been home with my son since.  Some however may not be so lucky and have to have 2 incomes to supprt the family.  After a year of bing home with my son, I decided to start a business at home.  I am opening a day care to help others that can not stay home get quality care for their children.

  3. I always planned on graduationg college (elementary eduction), building a house (and acquiring a house payment), and then having a baby while working taking of the normal six weeks.  Well I had Emma my final year of college.  I had to back at two weeks part time and full time when she was two months.  I graduated when she was six months and never looked back.  I stay home and am content to give up all we had planned to have.  I thank God He gave me Emma before I started working and acquired all those bills!

  4. With my first i took the whole yr off, it was nice and i really enjoyed staying at home with her. I am prego with number 2 and only been back to work for 6 months. I am going off again but i am planning on attending school for a couple years so when both children are in school i can work full time and make some good money.

  5. I have a 2 year old and a 4 week old and haven't worked since I was pregnant with the oldest.  I was in college when we got married, then pregnant right after so I didn't have a "real" job yet. Otherwise had we waited on kids I'd probably work.

  6. I'm currently in college working on my B.S.W, and my daughter is due in October.  I plan on talking to my professors soon explaining my situation, and see if I can take a week or two off from classes and e-mail them for assignments.

  7. I left my job to stay at home with my son 14 months ago.  I have no regrets.  Alot of friends ask me if I miss work.  My response: NEVER! :)  Being at home with him is a great experience and I know it won't last forever.  I also know I can return to my career and have the rest of my life to work.  I won't get these years with him back, so the decision is an easy one.  Sometimes I think about how much money we could be making if I worked, but honestly, I don't have any family nearby to watch him and I just couldn't leave him with a stranger at this young of an age.

  8. I had my daughter in sep 2007, i took my mat leave in aug 5th 2007, i was set to take a year off work and due to return on aug 11th 2008. I set up my part time hours with work and got child care with my mam for my daughter but as the time got closer and my daughter got older and started doing more things the thought of leaving her broke my heart. Then work started to mess me around changing my hours etc so i decided not to go back in june this yr. Im so glad i made the choice as i would of been going bk to work this monday coming. Ive been away from my daughter for about 12hrs over a 10mnth period so im very attached to her and shes very attached to me. I am gonna get a job but im gonna work from 10pm til 2am over a 3days a wk while shes in bed and my hubbys in bed this way i can still do my part for the family and be with my daughter every waking hour

  9. I am taking at least a year before I start working again.

  10. i wish i could stay home, but alas the bills need to be paid. i will be going back in two weeks. it will total about 8 weeks,(all of my accrued time) i took 1 week before i was due and seven after. although i can take another 12 weeks allowed by my job, it would be unpaid and really who can afford that.

  11. I want to stay home with my baby for at least 6 months sooooo baldy, but it is not financially possible for me and my boyfriend :-(  I will be getting 6 weeks state disability, and then another 4 paid from my employer to stay home with my little boy.  For the next two weeks, I will only be working 2 days a week, and doing some work from home the other days, then moving to 4 days after that 2 weeks.  So a total of 10 weeks off, 2 weeks at very part time, then back to full time.  Better situation than a lot of people have...guess I'm lucky my boss is a great guy!

  12. I went back to work and didnt think it was worth it. The costs it takes to get to work, to pay a babysitter and the thngs you have to miss from just having to work isnt worth the few dollars I got after all was said and done.
