Should gas prices or availability reduce the number of rigs transporting our products and thereby limiting what gets to the store, do you have a reserve of canned and dry foods and other goods such as soap and toilet tissue and medication to tide you over? If not, why? If you do, elaborate on your method for being prepared and what items you stock up on.

  1. yes things could tight as a result of the domino effect

  2. I don't think that the oil situation right now will cause a food shortage. I believe that these oil prices are temporary. They will eventually go back down.

As far as being prepared, I do believe it is wise to be prepared for any scenario, not just for an oil crisis. For instance, a nuclear attack. I would recommend having food and supplies that would last for a month. I'm sure there are websites that would give you recommendations on what to store. Just google it.

I myself do not have any food stored for worst case scenarios. I believe that I should though.

  3. Yes, I'm somewhat prepared. I have in reserve a few cases of canned foods, such as canned tuna, spaghettio's, canned veggies, canned milk, etc. I have surplus rice, pasta, flour, sugar & cornmeal. I have a fresh water well on my own property, but I've still stocked some bottled water. My method? Every time I go grocery shopping, I buy 3 or 4 extra cans and put them in my "hiding place" and my family knows not to touch these things. I also have a producing vegetable garden.

Ya know, I don't have enough medication to get thru a long term crisis. And I don't have any toilet paper stockpiled, simply cause I hadn't thought about it.

  4. Not at all prepared. But now that you mentioned it I think I will stock up on toilet tissue.

  5. No I am not prepared because I am a senior citizen who lives on $637 a month S.S. I. and I have $46 a month for food. I can't afford to eat more than one meal every 2 days so I sure won't be prepared for a food shortage.
