  1. I appreciate your question, because it highlights a fundamental concern that I have about our initiative in Iraq. Am I proud? Yes, I am proud.

But what on earth does pride have to do with anything? The question isn't whether the war in Iraq makes me proud. The question is, does it make me safe? And in regard to national security, the main impacts of the war in Iraq have been:

    (1) Fewer resources devoted to destroying the small group who actually did pledge to destroy my country.

    (2) A loss of moral authority to go after Al Qaeda hiding in Pakistan, to the point where now even John McCain is mocking Obama for his implication that he would strike into Pakistan from Afghanistan no matter what Pakistan said. WTF??? George Bush didn't have to worry about those niceties when he, very rightly, tore the Taliban to shreds. How did we get from there to here?... Answer: Iraq.

  2. 1. those who pledged to destroy us were not in iraq when we began the war there. since we occupied iraq, many members of al qaeda have come to iraq to fight us and will probably retain a lasting influence there. but they were not there when we entered.

    2. iraq isn't liberated. we are still fighting there and recently signed a pact with the iraqi government to build american bases there and have a continued american presence in that country for the foreseeable future. doesn't sound like a liberated iraq to me. sounds like an iraq that is propped up by the US.

  3. I'm always proud of my country.  Not proud of Bushco and the mess they've created.  Big difference.

  4. When Bush gets around to going after those who actually pledged to destroy us, and not waste time in Iraq, then we'll talk.

Until then, I'll have to be proud for entirely different reasons than our current illustrious leader...

  5. Very proud. Extremely brave men and women we have protecting our country.

We may not be perfect, but we are still the Greatest Country in the World.

    Good Luck

  6. Let me get this straight...

Am I proud of America?  h**l yes.

For 'liberating Iraq'??  No - that was a misguided plan that has left hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians dead and wounded, millions dislocated, killed and wounded thousands of US soldiers, and wasted hundreds of billions of dollars.

And for 'taking the fight to those who have pledged to destroy you'?

Not even close there sparky - you've been sold a bill of goods by an administration that used the horrible tragedy of 9/11 in order to enact a PNAC agenda of regime change in Iraq.  Unfortunately, it was the same people who thought it was a good idea to prop up Saddam Hussein in the first place, and has had exactly the same result - total, and unequivocable FAILURE.

  7. Yes, I am.  I think America had to do something

after 9/11.  We can't just shrug our shoulders

and do nothing when we're attacked with over

3,000 people killed in one day.  I just think we,

the citizens, didn't think it would last this long

and therefore became angry with the "war".

  8. Yes, I am proud of the country I served for 8 years. Although some of them would just assume surrender to said terrorists and abandon the call of freedom, I am still proud to have served for those that value freedom and democracy. (Republicans)

  9. Yes,I am proud of our Country.

  10. America is solution to the worlds problems. Terrorists started this war. GW Bush and America are going to end it.

  11. No, because Iraq was not trying to destroy us and we diverted our efforts to Iraq which allowed bin Ladin to escape.

  12. Iraq AND Afghanistan.  Let us not forget them.  And yes I am proud of my country.
