Summer days fly

in a whirlwind of colors.

Soon to fade away

Enriched by autumn’s flame,

leaves take on a life of their own.

Scarlet crispness.

Winds attempting to

change places.

Whistling through my hair.

Bemoaning lost summer.

Vibrant in their tempest.

Stay awhile, please?

  1. very aesthetic images and delivery however...i would have liked to see a bit more emotion, theme or metaphor used. i can see u have taken on a wistful sort of voice but poetry should be thought provoking and while this poem is pertty when u are finished there is little left to explore.

  2. End of summer, means the beginning, of the end of the roller coaster ride, that is life on the Coast. Bring the colors on.....

  3. A poem with so many beautiful images...i love the whirlwind of colours very much. the autumn's flame, scarlet crispness, whistling winds...are all cast in beautiful words...a very lovely poem in deed...

  4. We had an extended springtime here in Wyoming, which shortened our summertime a LOT.  And it looks like autumn will be coming a lot sooner than mid-September, too.  Gets me wondering what ever happened to "global warming."

Your haiku is very enjoyable.  I've always enjoyed the challenge of haiku.  Very expressive.

    Have a poetic day.

  5. It will be summer here for 2 more months, I miss the colors of autumn sometimes, but not the snow that follows.  "Winds attempting to change places" is so true in New England, where I grew up.
