I am ready to get behind Obama to straghten this nation out. Yes, Israel is our ally, but our first priority is to America. Then, we'll think about Israel once our troops are back and the war in Iraq isn't fresh in our minds. Obama wouldn't go into Israel after the big fuss over the Iraq War.

Little confused aren't you, trouble with that history 101 class? Mesopotamia was the cradle of Civilization and greece the cradle of western civilization. Christianity only became a major player when it became a dominant religion in Greece. Israel was always a backwater. Their only claim to fame, they wrote a book that was adopted by the roman empire to support a religion they were able to control to their advantage.

Israel is a State born out of terrorism against the British policing the Mandate in 1947 / 48. The West has done more than enough for a people who do not see the need for compromise. They're as bad as Hezbollah and Hamas. Obama needs to get behind the 2 State solution and knock heads together. Bush has been all talk and no action.

By the way OP I always understood the cradle of Western Civilisation to be Greece. Or possibly, Mesopotamia. (Iraq, to you)
