  2. I'm with rabbit, I too am related to John and Priscilla from the Mayflower. I also have a famous Irish Cousin called Martin O'Cadhain, a famous writer politician, who fought to keep the Gaelic Irish language. I am related to the 9th Earl of Warwick, so have Royal blood, on my Mother's side I am related to J.F Kennedy.

  6. I am a descendant of the infamous Sherrif of Nottingham of Robin Hood fame. Well, the chap who was the Sherrif of the period in which the myth is set (late 12th early 13th century).

  7. My family, both sides, has been in America since the late 1600's.  Not as "pilgrims" or "puritans" but as merchants, indentured persons, ship-jumpers - most fleeing something somewhere...mostly Wales and England..

    Most of my family on my mother's side married into several Native American communities.

    In our ancestral line, we have General Joseph Martin of Virginia, Nancy Ward-Beloved of the Cherokee, The Ridge and Ross family of Cherokee and Creek lands, the Stilwells of Oklahoma and Texas including Judge L. Stilwell and Frank Stilwell who was murdered by Wyatt Earp....of course, Frank shot Wyatt's brother Morgan...so t*t-for-tat back in those days.

    Walter Shirra, astronaut; "Vinegar" Joe Stillwell of WWII fame, Merle Haggard-singer, songwriter.

    Our family is full of good guys and bad guys.  We have legislators, judges, horse-thieves, ne'er-do-wells and successful business men and women.  My grandmother's family built Holdenville, OK.

    Anyone who's family has been in America since Revolutionary times - no matter the roots - has their share of famous and infamous in their history.

    Study the theory of "8 degrees of separation" and you'll find most people's families and friends intertwine in a marvelous social stew.
