Are you satisfied with your Yamaha XT 250?

Have you got any particular likes or dislikes about the Yamaha XT 250? Is it a quiet bike? Does it preform well off road? Can you lug it down and just putt pretty good. Will it get down the road at normal highway speeds OK ? Good or bad MPG? I am thinking on buying one and all input is greatly appreciated. I am not into stump jumping, racing, just putting the logging roads and having the speed to go down the highway to get there. Being a old Granpa I just like to putt on the mountain logging roads as quietly as possible. Thank you.

  1. My 250XT is very quiet, will cruise 60 on the road, it has been up to 78MPH tops. Very good handling on dirt and comfortable. For the price you will not go wrong. It will putt all day long in 3rd and 4th gear effortlessly.  I would buy another one if I was looking for a new one. The MSRP is $4399 and I see the local dealer is selling for $4100. This is for the 2008 models.

  2. whow, where about in this beautyful world are you located, Granpa?

which year XT250 do you talk about?

what do you call "normal highway speeds" will 60mph do?

"lug it down and just putt pretty good" will work a lot better with more displacement

do you consider the XT because of it's low seat height or because of it's low price or because it is sledgehammer technology?

if you are in the US you might want to look at a DRZ400S and/or a CRF230S as well, both a little more modern a little more capable, better suspension and both streetlegal here

btw, how old are you, Gramps?
