  1. I used to live in west yorkshire and if i ever went away, when I came back I always knew when i'd entered west yorkshire because the roads are terrible and have been for 40 years. Where does the road tax go???

  2. Common condition all over the UK. Successive governments and local councils' anti-car campaigns have seen spending on the roads fall to almost nothing in recent years, to the point where many councils up and down the land now pay out more in compensation for damage done to people's cars than they do on road maintainance.

I think the penny is slowly starting to drop with a few of them, but it's reckoned there's a 10 year backlog.

Nice to know our £300 billion contribution to the govenment's coffers is so well spent!

  3. most roads in this country are in desperate need of repair and have been for many years.  makes you wunder where all the road tax and congestion charge money in london goes

  4. I live in South East London and drive daily up through Greenwich to the A40. As I go from Greenwich to Southwark and on, the further on you go the roads get better.

In Greenwich I spend more time looking at the road surface than other traffic. The roads are rubbish.

  5. Don't even get me started!!!

  6. I live in northern NV and the road dept. has redone a strech of road the last 3 years that doesn't need it and refuses to fix a streach of concrete that needs repaved for years now because its cheeper to repave asphalt then tear up the concrete and then replace it with asphalt.

  7. nope

  8. When you spend all your money on wars and tax cuts and agribusiness subsidies and the Pentagon "misplacing" billions of dollars and interest on the national debt, there isn't much left over to fix up the roads.

That said, they're still a lot better than what they have in the third world.

  9. totally agree with you.

  10. It is really noticable at this time of year with all the flooding at the side of the roads!  If they cant keep the drainage up - what chance is there for the concrete?!!

  11. I too agree with you but our road taxes are being used for different things like dinners, plane trips, cars and a bunch of other things for the congress, so it seems that our roads will always be last on the list.

  12. as far as coming to work and going back home yes i am satisfied
