Are you scared to be at home alone?

My mom is scared to sleep the night in her house by herself. She has always had at least one of us kids there with her. But now that I am the last one who has left home, she begs me to come stay the night if my dad has to go out of town. She says she can not remember the last time she spent the night alone, and has not once in the 20+ years in their house now.

The neighborhood is very very safe and nothing has ever happened to cause her to be scared, our dog is there with her and the neighbors are all close.

Do you know anyone else who is like this, did they ever get over it and how?

she feels when she is alone some thing happen eg; theif will come and attack her. u just tell her u r not going and u are stay near to her room. she feel u r staying dere . she will not feel anything.

Yes a neice of a friend of mine. She had her daughter at home with her and now that her daughter has gone away to university and if her husband is working I expect she'll have my friend staying with her. The woman is 45 years old and this is totally ridiculous. She's acting like a child , she can help it but she chooses not to and so with your mother. Don't allow her to stiffle your life because she can't manage her's.

It's an anxiety disorder which can be easily relieved by therapy and medication.

She can't believe I live alone in my apt and am I not scared?

I said to her why would I be scared, the one who takes care of us in the daytime also takes care of us at night.

Thats wierd. My sister and best friend are scared to be alone at night (ages 22 and 27) Who knows if they will grow out of it. I think if they were forced to be alone they would get used to it eventually
