New Hampshire is primarily a libertian state. How is it possible that Hillary Clinton and John McCain win here? It just baffles me......esp. with a motto like "Live Free or Die"

  1. no John Mccain won last time he ran in New Hampshire no surprise there,

  2. Not at all. Anything can happen. Lets hope someone decent wins the primaries. I'm not sure who that would be though. Historically Harry S Truman won the election in the 1940's. There's a famous photo of him holding a national paper (I think the Chicago Tribune), with the headline, "Dewey Defeats Truman".  Too bad there isn't a candidate with his integrity and courage today.

  3. No, but I am I'm shocked that we allow puny states like New Hampshire and Iowa play such an important role in selecting our President.

  4. Nope.  That's exactly what I thought would happen.  I think Hillary will win the party's nomination, but McCain will be very hard to beat.  Edwards would probably have a better chance against him in the general election.

P.S.  "Libertian" is not a word that I know of.

  5. No. I had a feeling people would feel sorry for poor hillary after her little crybaby act yesterday. Pathetic.

  6. Yeah....I hope Obama takes it though!!

  7. I am not shocked.  I expect that Clinton and Obama will have to be decided at the Convention.  I am not hot on any of the Republican candidates, but I have more confidence in honesty from McCain than the others.

  8. Absolutely not!

  9. no...i was shocked by Iowa.

  10. Not really. even tho' Hillary may have "won", if I read the news reports correctly, Obama gets the same number of delegates to the DNC. So, in essence, it is a tie.

While I mainly vote Democratic, I'm not sure either of these two candidates can beat the Republican nominee as long as the Republican can distance himself from Bush who has been as close to a failure as any president. The republicans need to heed their own party platform and get back to less government and lower taxes instead of the way they have been going.

  11. of course not the primaries are the most wide open races in my memory...and a good race is what is needed....keeps the candidates from getting complacent and figuring it is their god given right to be the nominee...aka bush!!

  12. Shocked? No. It's a primary. Candidates from each party had to win. There's not a whits difference between any of the candidates and their positions on the issues. All want socialized medicine, higher taxes, etc. No surprises for me.

  13. Nope it doesn't surpise me that Hillary or John won.

It show me that polls are just snap shoots of the wind.

They can't be trusted for long.

  14. Yes, I am shocked and baffled. 70% of Americans say they are opposed to the Iraq war, yet they vote for the woman (Clinton) who entirely supported Bush and for the man (McCain) who said he wanted our troops in Iraq for 100 years.

If you want peace, you must vote for the candidates who espouse it. In this election, that is Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinish, and Mike Gravel.

Wake up, people! Vote your conscience, not the polls.

  16. Hillary Clinton got the women votes and McCain was supported by the independents who perceived that they have the experience to be their President.

  17. not really, clinton still leads nation-wide by like 26% on the demo side, and everyone in the NY area still like her...as to McClain, people are surprised cause the media decides not to report his speeches to the people, so no one expected his victory... congrads to them both i guess... i still dont know who i'm voting for

  18. Why are you surprised that Hillary won. Sexist men screamed  sexist remarks at her and you expect women in New Hampshire not to respond to that?

Hillary was as surprised by her victory as she was genuinely upset and tired over the past few days after Iowa.

Don't take this victory away from her.

  19. I was cheering for Obama but Hilary is the next best in my book.  As long as Hilary or Obama wins you won't hear me complaining.

  20. Yes.... if these are any outlook on our choices..... ouch!

  21. I can't stand the thought of having the Clinton machine back in the White House.  So, yes, I am shocked and outraged over the ignorance shown by the NH voters yesterday!!!!! All Hillary had to do was cry and the undecided voters determined that was the reason to vote for her. As I said, ignorance, not issues, decided the outcome.

  22. I had posted to a question yesterday morning about the possibility of Hillary dropping out of the race. This was my view then:

I do not expect her to drop out-much to the dismay of some testosterone driven posters here. In fact yesterday some men stood up in her rally shouting and holding up signs saying "Iron My Shirt."  The audience applauded as these men were escorted out by security.

These attitudes may have an unintended consequence of women aligning themselves behind her because of indignation of the sexist attitudes towards her.

Yes young ladies will support their boyfriends but older ladies are not inclined to take kindly to such attitudes. And guess who is a majority of women? Younger or older?

Just got home from work to hear She won New Hampshire.

  23. yes!!
