  1. Do you have any experience?  Any legit agent is going to want their talent to at least have some credits under their belt.

Start off by doing theatre, dance, choir stuff at your school and in your community. Build up your resume, talk to people and find out if there are any local casting agents. If not, then talk to other actors who live near you to find out if/how they get work and which national agent they use.

A lot is going to depend on where you live.

    Good luck!

  2. you need to get a copy of the ross reports.  they list all the legitimate agencies with addresses and how to contact them, and what to provide them.  dont expect to hear back because it doesnt happen very often.  but this is the only way someone like yourself can contact them.

  3. Just to respond to your "additional details" post - geography is everything. Your agent needs to be in your town. I have a "legit" agent in DC, however if you don't live here, they won't represent you, so that isn't going to help here.

Here's the thing - on these boards, the term "agents" is thrown out a lot as a step in building an acting career and it's true, you do need an agent to become a working actor. However, you also have to live in a place that actually has work. This is why the majority of actors live in NY and LA - that's where the majority of the work is.

So, you say you live in a small town and you've looked around for agencies. There just may not be any...did you look at the yellow pages? Also call up some acting studios and ask. You also say there are no actors - are there any professional theatres? Community theatres? You need to learn your market, however you also may have resign yourself to the fact that you just don't live in an area with many opportunites. So, you do the best you can with what you've got - try to get into your school shows, take classes where you can, if there's community theatre, audition for it, etc and when you turn 18, look around for other options.

    Good luck.
