  10. Yes, all you do is divide the numerator (the top number) by the denomonator.

  11. Yes. Yes.

    1/5 = 0.2

    1/4 = 0.25

    1/3 = 0.333

    1/2 = 0.5

    1/1 = 1.0

    Duh.

  12. Yes.

And this is how (ex. 1/10)

    1/10 = 1.00/10 = 0.10 = .10 = .1

  16. Yes, I'm smarter than a third grader.

No, it is not proper to put fractions in decimals (or decimals in fractions).

I mean that writing a thing as 2.5/4.3 is not a proper way to write a fraction, and it is not proper to write 3.4 1/2 either.

However, you CAN turn fractions into equivalent decimals:

    1/1=1

    1/2=.5

    1/3=.33(continuing forever)

    1/4=.25

    etc...

  17. yes

  18. yes

    1/2 = 0.5

    2/3 = .667

    1/3 = .333

divide the numerator by the denominator

  19. Yes.

    Example

    1/2 becomes 0.5

  20. yeah.....

  21. of course

  22. yes they can

  23. Every single one can

  24. well, yes.  but that doesn't make me smarter than a third grader.  my third grader knows how to convert fractions to decimals.

  25. umm... yeah.

Why would a third grader be on here?

  26. If you mean exactly, then no, not always. For instance 1/3 cannot be represented exactly in decimals.

Otherwise, yes. A decimal is just another way to express a fraction.

  27. Yes.

  28. YES!

  29. Of course 1/4 is 0.25.
