  1. Tough questions for 9th grade.

    1.  At which point does a roller coaster have the most kinetic energy?

    B. bottom of biggest hill

*Note: When it is going the fastest, which is usually at the bottom of the biggest hill, but could be later if it dipped lower after that hill.

    2.  A canon ball is dropped from the leaning tower of Pisa. When does the ball have the greatest potential energy and least kinetic energy.

    C. 0.5 sec

    * Most potential energy is when it is the highest above the earth.

    3.  When rolling down a hill, a roller coasters potential energy is converted into?..

    A.kinetic, or

    D.  all of the above

*Note:  There is a very, very small component converted into both thermal and sound.  This is all related to friction.  If there were no friction, then no sound or thermal energy then it would be all kinetic energy

    4.  work and energy are closely related so they are both expressed in...

    D.Joules

*Note, they can also be expressed in calories or Kcals -- which is how a biologist or a chemist might do it.

    5.  You must wind the wheel on a music box for it to play. what is the stored energy inside giving the music box the ability to play?

    A.Potential

  2. 1. A

    2. D

    3. B

    4. A & C

    5. A

Sorry if I get it wrong.. I'm in 5th grade so i'm not suree..!!!

  3. do your own homework. i have no idea. however, i do know that on a roller coaster, teh coaster can only go as high ast he first hill.

  4. Roller Coaster:

Highest Potential Energy is when it's not moving but sitting at a very high point. Top of Biggest Hill.

Highest Kinetic Energy is when is  moving at the fastest speed. Bottom of the Biggest Hill.

    Cannon ball:

Highest Potential Energy at the shortest time after it was dropped.
