Are you suppose to buy a gift for someone's open house?

My friend is having an open house she's not a best friend just a good friend and she invited me to her open house i don't think a lot of people are going to be there,,so should i buy her a gift,,if so what???? Is a jewlery box a good gift???

  1. no.  So it's a graduation party not an open house? Take a small gift.


  2. If your friend has just purchased this home and is having an open house for herself then yes you should purchase a gift something for the house. If this is an open house to sell her house then no, she is likely just looking for tips.

  3. A good rule of thumb to remember is: never attend a party empty handed.  In this case, a small gift such as a picture frame, a book, candle, or candies would be appropriate.  Money is also good for graduations.  You could just put $20 in a card and that would be good.  Or, if your friend is going on to college, a gift card to a place where she could outfit her dorm/apartment would be good...like Target, Walmart, or Bed, Bath and Beyond.
