  1. The hospital always told me to register, so I wouldn't have to worry about it later.  You don't actually have to pre register - its just for your convience.  The hospital usually will provide one can of formula to start you off.  One hospital I was in, with my oldest son, gave me a month's supply of liquid formula - very nice - but this isn't the norm.  Other things Hospitals have given me - I got this cute baby hankerchiefs, baby blanket, baby spoon, baby bib, a little bag that said special delivery from and the hospital name, baby tshirt, diapers, wipes, thermometer, and little baby wash, lotion, and destin.  I also got a steak dinner from this hospital, but it just depends on where you are at.

    good luck and congrats.

  2. My doctor had me pre-register at about 33-34 weeks each time so go ahead and do it.  It only takes a few minutes and it's one less thing you have to do when you go into labor.  How do you know your labor is going to be a long process?  As for formula feeding, the hospital will give you all you need and don't be afraid to ask for more at any time.  I asked for formula just in case and I still have a ton of formula and I need to pass it on to someone who can use it since I'm not.

  3. Definitely, pre-register or register now. They provide you with formula if you want to bottle feed. Just let them know your preference/intentions.

  4. its a good idea to register before you go into labor becuz you dnt want to b fillin papers out wit contractions or water drippin down your legs.

    i registered i think my 30th week n im glad i did.

nope the formula should be provided by the hospital

and i wouldnt count on labor being a long process it differs for everybody but my labor was only 4 hours and i got to the hospital as soon as my water broke. with no contractions. and my daughter was born 3 1/2 hours later

  5. I just had my daughter a week ago. So i'm fresh out the hospital, its best to register as soon as you have the time. Trust me, when your having contraction pains and there asking you to fill out all these papers its not fun. I literally had poeple standing in my room waiting for my signature and I was in the middle of a painfull contraction. Oh and yes the hospital provides premade bottles. Mine provided good start. the onyl thing they dont provide is baby wipes. Make sure you bring that. Congrats and Good luck, hope everything goes well for you.

  6. You might get to the hospital with the baby crowning. You should preregister. The hospital provides everything baby needs for the hospital stay including formula. You just need an outfit to bring baby home in.

If you have a special bottle brand with a fancy nipple you want baby to use, bring that so your baby can get used to it. Otherwise they just use the normal standard narrow nipples.

  7. I pre-registered probably around 22 weeks. If you know you want to deliver at the hospital, just do it now. If you wait until you're in labor, you'll have to go to the hospital twice (!) in the same day or be stuck with a bunch of paperwork for your husband or coach. It only took us about 5-10 minutes to fill out the form and then we got a phone call from the hospital confirming some details. It was definitely worth it to do it early.

  8. I would register now, just so they have all your info on file and you don't have to stop at admitting if you are in labor. It was great for me to just be able to go up to Labor and Delivery.

If you formula feed, they will provide that. They might even ask you which kind you prefer. (I think the formula companies have deals with the hospitals).

    Good luck and congrats.

  9. Just a side note-- Unless you have a medical condition, please consider breastfeeding your baby. The average mom spends over $1200 on formula, and it doesn't provide your baby with any of the beneficial hormones, enzymes, or antibodies that breast milk does. I just had my first baby ten weeks ago, and it isn't hard at all. And, my husband likes how full my chest has gotten!

  10. i think its better to register now...just so you dont have to do it while in labor...they make you fill out enough papers while you're in labor and who really wants to do that in pain?? my doctor told me if i waited until labor to register then i would have to fill out the forms before i got a room...but since i pre registered they just wheeled me right in.  I just think registering now would make it a lot easier for you while you're in labor.

and as for the formula, the hospital gives you as much as you need.

  11. I'm not sure about your hospital but I gave birth at Banner hospital (in AZ) and they required you to register. Just a one sheet form to fill out with a copy of insurance card. I know that they do call your insurance company about a month before your due date and make sure that everything is good to go. You might want to call your hospital and find out. The last thing you need is bad news from them when you are about to pop! Better safe than sorry.

About the formula... hospital should give you those. They provided us with lots of things such as diapers, baby t-shirt, hat, receiving blankets and etc. You can only take the hat home though.
