Are you supposed to die in dreams???

Question

I always have dreams where i end up dying, and after i'm dead it all goes black for a while and then i wake up in a different dream.

Iv'e been hanged, crucified, mauled by a dinosaur, dumped down a volcano by skeletons, shot(lots of times), drowned, burned, eaen by alligators etc.

I've heared people say that when you die in dreams, you die in real life too.

What does dying in dreams mean???

I have had the same type of dreams, dieing.  I wonder if, because of a near drowning when I was a toddler, are the dreams telling me I was supposed to die, and not be here.  I have had these dreams for over 40 years.
