  1. Not for vaccinations, but for checkups and problem yes.

Call around to the vets in your area, ask if they have experience with exotics and birds (if they do then they see them in their practice and are trained to know what to look for).  If they're strictly livestock, or small animal (dog/cat) then they've not taken the extra classes to know about birds.  You need to find a knowledgeable one.  Once you do, ask them what your bird needs.

You can also join some bird bulletin boards and ask specific questions there if problems arise. Or ask for a veterinarian referral for your state/city.

  2. i dont know about vaccinations, but i have seen people bring their birds into the vet.

if it is a real vet and not a vet's assistant, they are trained to treat all domestic animals.

  3. No vaccinations, really, but they benefit from an annual check up by an avian vet. It can be pricey, but they can catch any labs that are off and save you money in the long run. kjl

  4. it depends on if u think ur bird is healthy and on finance!!!

  5. They don't need vaccinations, but you do take them to an avian vet once a year for checkups, as well as anytime you get a new bird, and whenever you notice something wrong.  Remember, birds are very good at hiding illnesses and if they ever show it, that means it's bad enough that they need medical care very quickly.

  6. No. Only if you found & caught it in the wild, but pet birds do need to be taken a vet atleast once a year for a checkup.
