I've never gotten food this way before. Are you supposed to tip the person who comes out and brings you your food from a restaurant such as Chilis if you get it to go?

  1. If I was ordering a customized type meal with extras maybe I would tell the clerk I would tip him for this extra service and get his name.   But as a rule, unless you are a regular customer and know your server, No I wouldn't.  When I get regular service and have a relationship with a business, I tip.

  2. No not that I know of, I never have..

Only reason you tip is for a waiter or waitress or cook, if you like the service and/or  food at the end of a meal. Seeing that its to go, why tip?  Cant tip the cook cause you havent eaten it yet to know if they did a good job cooking it the way you like it...

  3. Anytime someone does you a service and they do a good job with it, it is a nice gesture to leave a tip.  Yes, you can leave a tip at a fast foood place.  I went to Sonic today and I left a tip for the girl bringing the food to my car.  I would also tip Chilis too.  They are no different then a person serving food 2 you in a restaurant or delivering it to your house.

  4. they walk like twenty feet out to your car. personally, i'm not tipping for that. they mostly just do the work of a cashier. they might pack up your order, but there's a guy who plates food for dine-in customers too and he doesn't get a tip. why should they? i'd tip if the order was really big or i had a lot of special requests or modifications/substitutions.

  5. Yes, always tip them. Anywhere between $2-$5 for to go orders. Depending on how much you order. The person who is bringing you your food, probably also wrapped up your food to go. (That is actually not the cook's job). And the servers, bartenders, hostesses, and busboys are all making there money off of tips. By law, they make MUCH less than minimum wage.

  6. I do because they ARE providing you a service...they are delivering the food to your car.  I dont tip like 20% but if my total is like $18 and I pay with a $20, I tell them to keep the change.

  7. i do not think its necessary to tip for unrendered service ?
