Question:

Are you surprised by the Starbucks stores closing?

For the couple years I have seen Starbucks popping up in all types of sketchy areas where I would never think a location could possibly thrive. Many of those locations I personally noted were listed. (One in Kenner, La, all of them in Baton Rouge (home of the far superior CC's Coffee chain), and several in Baltimore.)

You really used to be able to find the nicer areas of town just looking at their store maps, but many of their new locations were in areas where no one was up until noon (much less buying coffee at 7am) and where the stores had to close before the robberies started.

  1. Starbucks is everywhere

Where I live they have 4 Outlets in two blocks, there are two kitty corner from each other

If they close one, the customers cross the street to buy at the one left

Cost savings galore...Maybe 2 more Baristas, But Rent on a store is eliminated, managerial costs are consolidated...So many, Financial reasons to close stores like this.

  2. Maybe some. But I am glad. They have monopolized the coffee business long enough. I've never been to one. It's such a waste of money.

  3. no, im not...paying that much for coffee drinks was bound to catch up with them..i've never been to a starbucks..i like "regular" coffee...like DD or Mickey Ds

  4. No, I'm thankful. More folks need to patron the small coffee/pastry shops run by families who have come to this country legally and are trying to live the American dream.

  5. No, it was not a surprise. In February, the company fired 600 employees and conducted a in-store retraining program to try and revive the Starbuck Experience.

  6. their are way to many plus dunkin dounuts are better

  7. It was bound to happen sooner or later.  I have 6 starbucks within a 2 mile radius of me.  That just isn't sustainable forever.

  8. Not really. There's an oversaturation in some places. There are two within a 1/4 mile of each other where I live, plus there are at least 5 more that I pass on the way to and from work every day and my commute is only 8 miles one way.

  9. ya but idk if it going to happan where i live though

  10. Surprised? Not at all. I'm only sorry we're losing two. Here's the list:
