Are you surprised that the last CBS EliteXC (Unfinished Business) did a lot worse than the first event?

What do you think contributed to the event's ratings downfall?

Fans were complaining about Kimbo Slice and how the fights were stopped prematurely. Well this time, no Kimbo and no premature stoppage. So, what's with the lower-than-expected ratings?

  1. im not suprised. people were wondering what the first show on main broadcast would be like so it got a lot of viewers. now that everyone knows that it sucks no one wanted to watch it. I would much rather flip the channel up a little and watch a much better UFC card with bj penn.

  2. they hyped the first one and nobody knew it would be the stinker it was. now  everybody knows and they hardly showed any commercials about the second one.

  3. No.

They didn't feature Elixc's mayor attractions: Kimbo Slice, and Gina Carano.

That's why they did alot worse.

  4. 1) It's summer

    2) It was on a Saturday

    3) not a lot of promotion

    4) No Kimbo, No Carano.  EXC's two biggest draws were not in the cage.

    5) The UFC replay pulled some viewers, but not a lot

    6) The "cuiriosity viewers" weren't hooked enough by the first show to tune in to the second

Saturday nights are normally slow, and combine that with an even slower summer season, and you have a recipe for a low rated show.

  5. Is this a real question? Fans were complaining about Kimbo and how the fights were stopped prematurely so they didnt watch this time around. No I am not surprised, I think EliteXC has some decent fighters and Im not convinced they were premature stoppages but the overall reaction to the first show was horrible. Lots of talk about it being fixed (not a chance) so I personally did not expect this next show to do well at all.

  6. Well, too bad that it didn't do well. Some may think of it as a UFC card being better. I really want ALL mma events to be a success. Competition is a good thing, and gives the fighters options. If UFC is the only game in town either you play by thier rules or you don't play at all. Affliction, IFL, UFC, and Elite XC are all good in my opionion because I like to see trained fighters. Even Saturday night the CBS event had to deal with the Dream 5 tourney on HDNET. They can still wear Gi's in Dream and I got to see a guy use his gi to choke the other guy out for the win. I know some say that you'll never use a gi on the street, but you won't get to fight many guys in just shorts either. :)

  7. The UFC did better

  8. I watched it but it was not as exciting. It went down hill after the first match. I suppose it's just one of those "boring" cards.

  9. I think its just the way things go. I didn't hear about it till a hour or two before. Im very glad I watched it. Not many people realize it but Elite XC has an underrated welterweight thats ranked #7. Jake Shields has a big win streak and is finishing people quick. He submitted Jon Fitch in a submission wrestling tournament. His BJJ is the best of anyone at 170lbs in MMA. Yes even better than GSP's BJJ. Watch Jake, hes an animal.

  10. Even mainstream America, as stupid as they are, can see through some of the c**p XC put out.....it's a show not a fight production first off. On top of that the fights are fixed.....guys are taking the fall in almost every fight. And the Kimbo fight was not stopped too soon.....WAY too late. When he was pinned down and hit 15 times in the face the fight should have been called and Kimbo looses......but Elite can't allow their bread and butter marketing "fighter" to lose; that would be bad for business.

Fight fans realize even the top fighters will lose regardless of how popular they are......the average American does not. Thus all the Kimbo hype.....

See what Urijah Faber told Dana White about Kimbo....that's how people in the industry feel about Elite.

My entire training circle absolutely won't watch Elite shows.....and I'm certain we're not alone.
