I'm not sure why there is any demand for this guy. He seems like a cool dude but he has done nothing, all while sitting in Hendrick equipment.

  1. I'm not surprised. Look at Jeff Burton, after some success at Roush, he struggled for a few seasons, now he's a perennial championship contender. Richard revived his career. I think he will help Casey alot. One thing about RCR as opposed to HMS is all the teams are in the same shop. At HMS the 24 and 48 are in a shop and the 5 and 88 are in another. That can't be very good for a drivers attitude. Even tho Jr is with him in that shop it was always the "other" cars shop. So I think he will feel like an equal part of the team and it will help his confidence.

  2. Well Mears always seemed to be pushed to the R&D car at Hendrick. I think he'll do good with RCR.

  3. Not really, HMS i feel did not give Mears a fighting chance but with RCR he just might get to race with the big guys..and I know that Bowyer, Harvick, and Burton will give him guidance, GL i say

  4. Yep.  He couldn't do diddly at HMS.  Imagine RCR with their "roller coaster" sucess?    He'll be out by mid 2010.

  5. No kidding! there has got to be someone that can do better than Mears.

  6. I'm not surprised... it really hasn't been much of a secret.  I would have liked Richard Childress to have given Steve Park another chance, but I knew that wasn't going to happen.

And, he did win one race in Hendrick equipment, when he had a crew chief that would work with him.  I don't think Mears clicks well with Gustafson.  I sure hope Mark Martin can work better with Gustafson, or they had better find him a different crew chief next year.

  7. yea cause he ain't that good of a driver. he has 1 win under hendrik equipment and that was the #25. that should well at least have 2 drivers drive the #33 for RCR. Casey Mears and ??? maybe perhaps scott wimmer, david stremme, jamie mcmurray or even J.J.Yeley good idea uh?

  8. no i am not surprised. I knew right from the get go that's where Mears was headed.

  9. He'll probably do about as good as Robby Gordon did. I don't think Mears belongs in a Cup ride but maybe I'm wrong. I think that David Gilleland would make a good driver if he had decent equipment.
