I found a way to opt out of a lot of it on earth day. I am looking forward to receiving a lot less junk. Try it. The world could use a lot less junk mail. Apparently this is the company that owns all of the mailing lists and you can ask them to selectively remove you from lists. I can't wait to reap the benefits.

  1. if some of the junk mail contains an envelope that will be paid by the sender, I will stuff as much of all junk mail in it as i can and return it. I tear of my contact info.  If every one did this it would hurt the pocket books of these companies and force them to reconsider how they market and advertise.  I have tried the opt out stuff to really no avail.

  2. Ironically enough, more than half the junk mail I receive is from environmental lobby groups like Greenpeace.

  3. Just stuff the rest of the junk mail you receive into one of the postage paid envelopes that come with the credit card offers.  Let them deal with your junk mail.

  4. Actually, I simply call the people who sent me the junk mail and tell them to remove my name from their mailing list. Legally, they are required to stop mailing you if you ask them to.

I get almost no junk mail anymore.
