It's thrown around almost with the same recklessness as the word "hero." What do you think would be a better word?

  1. I hate that word as much as I hate equal rights for women!

    LOL!

  2. yes and its second cousin, pedophile -and third cousin, abortion.

    words I don't see often enough:  equality, open-mindedness, growth, and true intelligence.

    phrase I don't see often enough:  what can I do to make this world a better place for all of its living creatures?

  3. Hatred is hatred no matter what name you give it...there isn't any room for it in our world...just too much hatred in the world as it is.

    Hero is not used enough in the world...too many heroes go completely unrecognized.

  4. I don't think the word misogyny is thrown around too much. Misogyny refers to someone who deeply hates women and feels they should only be used to create babies and therefore have s*x. I do not hear the word a lot myself, and it should only be used in extreme cases like a rapist. A more correct word for smaller acts of discrimination against women is sexist of prejudiced.

  5. I am tired of seeing misogyny in action.  Women-hater is the "translation."  I can think of many other terms, but there are children on-line.

  6. Totally.  And it's based on nothing but false premises in most cases.  Heaven forbid you ask a question that's offensive to others' sensibilities.  You will be called a misogynist at least (with a slew of other ad hominem attacks in violation of CG/TOS);

  7. If the Shoe fits then Wear it....It is a male that hates Females and will do just about anything to stop them from advancing or have a Life of their own...

  8. I was a psych nurse and counselor and I always associated that word with the clinical manifestation of severe mental disease with homocidal tendencies.  They are usually racist, too, just gnarled up pathetically with loop-de-looping hatred for just about everything.  I was surprised when I began participating here to read how "pop culture" had mutated that word to mean a catch-all bag of behaviors ranging from anti-social behavior, rudeness, sexism, different opinions, to not putting the toilet seat down, etc.  As an older person who writes for younger people, I have to make an effort to keep up with modern "lingo" and mutations of word meanings.  So, I just blow it off whenever I see that word used in a "modern" meaning.  I post answers sometimes to throw all those thoughts above into the social consciousness here ,and, being experienced and educated about clinical misogyny, I feel competent and comfortable about stating when I recognize what I was taught to be true misogyny.  I post "Misogyny is a mental and social disease" to let other experienced participants here, men and women (men really don't need or want guys that messed up on their "side") know that I think the question should be posted over in the YA Psychology category and isn't really a GWS issue.  And, misogyny is rampant throughout most world religions and I call that whenever it comes up.  What most people seem to call a "misogynist" these days is what I called back in the 60's a "jerk".

  9. No, quite frankly i'm not.
