  1. Yes, very sad and wrong in so many ways.

  2. These people that are against horse racing are the same fools that try to disrupt the Olympic Torch Runs because of so-called "beliefs", "morals" and "cruelty", which they really don't know about.

It's just sick that people here want Eight Belles to suffer for life and give up hope like the owners of Barbaro did. Horses cannot recover from leg injuries like humans do, and horse racing has been around since before all of the people here were born, so they cannot be called "experts" on animal cruelty.

The so-called "animal lovers" are here just to light fires and cause trouble like PETA does when they throw animal blood and red paint at people that wear fur and leather clothing.

It's just how things are when horses are put down. There are thousands of horses put down every day all over the world by farmers and owners when their legs break or suffer irrepairable damage to their legs. People just don't see it happen and think they do, especially the delusional leftist liberal extremists living in urban areas, that pretend to be animal lovers.

  3. Thoroughbreds as a class would not exist if it were not for the willingness of people to bet on races.

She happened to die on TV or you would never had heard of it. If you want to feel guilty about supporting something like that, it's your trip, Ranger.

  4. Yes I'm upset about the Derby.  I usually love horse racing because it's exciting.  I love the Derby and the beautiful horses.  I was horrified with what happened to Barbaro and I was horrified today that this beautiful horse was pushed so hard that she came in second, breaking her ankles in response to being whipped to go faster and faster and faster.

    I feel horrible tonight.

  5. yes, it makes me wonder about the sport

living in ky though you come to appreicate the bond between a horse and his rider. i am sure the jocky is major upset

but im not sure all the blame is on "the man"

  6. yes i agree with you that it was sad but also the horse was breed to race.  also if you think about it was the best decision to put it to sleep than to have it suffer.

  7. You bet I am! Not just the Derby, but the entire industry of horse racing. Any time that humans involve animals in "sport" the animal, who can't speak for them selves, have the potential to suffer. The horse racing industry is the worst! It is a huge business, and this poor filly is just one of many to die for it. The word filly means "a young female horse, usually less than four years old" Thank you Mr. Webster. Less than four years old, in other words, a baby. Horses have a long life span, even in the "wild" a horse can live 10-15 years. Your average horse, 25-30 years. Animals which live this long do not mature as rapidly as animals with shorter life spans. Therefor, horses are not fully developed at the age of two, when the racing industry throws them on the track to "do what they are bred for" aka, run themselves to death in the name of money! The "lucky" ones are still alive at six, why don't you take a look at what happens to the not so lucky? I think you will really see the cruelty of man, and the heart of a horse. Yes, you could say I'm upset about the derby!

  8. This shows that she had 2 broken ankles and would have been in sever pain even if they could have some how saved her. She wouldn't even have 3 good legs to support her body weight. I am sad about what happened to her, she got in there with a group of stallions and held her own all the way. She did something very few fillies have done, run in the Kentucky Derby. She came in second place even. The only right thing to do for her was to put her down. All the Vets. I have heard from have said that there was really no other choice and that it was what was best for her. Cruelty would have been making her suffer with it just so they could have her breed and make some money off of her. No, they did the right thing, it's just so sad it happened.  I have lived here all my life and know that these horses get better treatment than most people do.

  9. "Eight Belles????

this shows the cruelty of man,

and the heart of the horse"-I love that statement and no truer words have ever been spoken. I am no longer watching any horse racing events again......I'm finished with them all.

  10. Yes. I think racing is animal cruelty and I am against it starting this morning.
