This woman's courage is amazing. Resolve like this can only come from a deeply personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Bottom line, no apologies. God Bless our next Vice President, Sarah Palin.

  1. No problem with her having it - just a problem that she might push her beliefs onto others.

  2. Look, I'm an atheist and if someone wants to raise their down syndrome afflicted kid, fine. It's a sticky wicket and I'm just glad I don't have to decide that kind of thing myself. As for the only source of resolve, uh...I beg to differ. Say what you will about Muslims ( I do ) but I will give them this: they're serious about their religion. Bonkers and terrorist sympathizers the lot of them but totally deeply disturbingly serious about their religion which translates to ...resolve. Like the resolve to blow yourself up.

  3. I read the link...I didn't see anything about atheist's being upset about Ms. Palin's choice to have a Down's Syndrome Child.  Are you sure you gave us the correct link?  I actually know several people who have Down's Syndrome children...they have a tough time sometimes, but they love their kids alot.  But out of all the trials they have faced, I've never heard an atheist tell them they were wrong to have the child.

Please post the actual link you are referencing.

EDIT:  Still waiting for you to post the link.

EDIT:  STILL waiting for you to post the link.

  4. I don't have time to check out the post, but I am a mother of two autistic children and I was very happy to hear that someone with a handicapped child could be our next V.P.

Before she was picked I wasn't sure who I was voting for, or even if I was going to bother voting at all. But now things are very different!

  5. Who's child is it? Hers or theirs?  The only thing that matters is if the child will be loved and well cared for; and he/she will be.

  6. Actually, there are plenty of non-Christian women who do courageous and loving things all the time.

Personally, I find it a little disturbing that this woman put her politics/beliefs over a child's life, and decided to go ahead and saddle her own child with a disorder that will impede him from living a fulfilling life. I feel bad for the kid.

"OH, I DON'T WANT TO BE A MURDERER, SO I'LL JUST LET MY CHILD SUFFER!"

If abortion is murder, then so are DNR orders, but you don't see Christians up in arms about that.

  7. Ha, Ha! You must be joking. If that naive ditz can handle a special needs child (since she does have a husband and probably a nanny or two to help), whatever. I seriously doubt she really is aware of what a single parent who needs to work full-time would have to endure. Anyone who's anti-choice is completely naive and blind to reality.

Anyway, she's only got two years of experience as a governor of the US's probably lowest populous state and before that she was a mayor of a town that's population was only 6,000-10,000. Ironically, I just went to Alaska and, let me tell you, it is very remote there, the population was extremely low so I'll be really surprised if she can handle the politicians she's going to come across now. Especially, if she's so naive as to be anti-choice.

  8. It wasn't her decision to have a Down's Syndrome child, but she did. And she cares for this child, loves it. How can anyone be mad at that?

  9. It's horribly selfish and not her right to really choose.

Would you be upset if I had a kid knowing that the kid would be born with HIV?

    Ok then.

  10. It was her personal choice.  She and her husband are wealthy enough to be able to support the kid the rest of its life.  Others are not so fortunate.  No matter what she did she would have offended someone.

I wouldn't call it courage as it can also be viewed as a sure fire way of getting votes from fundamentalists.  The kid is earning its keep.  But perhaps you think that trying to get elected is the same as having a deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  What a bizarre religion!  She can also be seen as taking the easy way out of a difficult decision.  But I was not in her position.  All of my children were healthy.  And I don't feel a need to praise or condemn her for her choice.

I don't support giving birth to children with Downs syndrome as it diverts more money to special education for children who will never be productive in our society.  That said it would be helpful if ways could be found to "cure" children with the genetic errors that cause Downs syndrome without an abortion.  Having a healthy child is definitely superior to having one that can fully participate in society.  I think both fundamentalist and feminist can agree on that.

As for "God bless..."  How long have you been ordering God around?

  11. No. And I have not heard one person even mention her children as a reason for not liking her. I think she is strong for being able to face the challenges that come with having a child with special needs but I do not think she will make a good VP.

  12. Which atheists?

All I see here is a level one troll.

  13. I doubt it would have mattered who John McCain chose, the Liberals would be slinging mud.  Imagine, the coronation of their Obama over-shadowed by McCain's selection of vp.

The fact that the first female Vice President could be a mother of 5 children (one with DS) appalls Liberal women why?  Because for 35 years, they've been selling American women a bill of goods about not being able to work and have a family, to justify abortion (or unchecked welfare spending).

Edit:  So, a woman has the absolute right to terminate the life of another human being for any reason or no reason, but a mother must defend her choice to have a child?!  This is sick!

  14. only in your dreams......your hilarious!

i respect her,but she has zero chance.

  15. I'm not upset about it. It's none of my business. But if you think that only Christians choose to bring disabled children into this world, you are sadly mistaken.

  16. I agree, you don't carry that kind of character around without a firm foundation and that is Jesus Christ.

She is a leader with a walk and not just talk.

  17. Why would someone be upset with her having the child?  I would be upset if she had decided to murder the child.

  18. I don't see why anyone should be upset that she has a child with special needs

  19. I'm not upset with Palin or anyone who has a child with special needs.

Your claim is baseless anti atheist propaganda.

I read the entire article and it does not mention Atheists or anyone that is upset with the Palins for having a baby with down syndrome.

  20. I do not judge anyone.

  21. I am not an atheist.

I was 38 when my son was born and I had an amniocentesis to check for abnormalities.  He was normal, thank God, because I don't know what I would have done.   Many Down's people can live fairly normal lives so it is not the worst diagnosis.

Sarah Palin is not courageous at all.  It is not courageous to want to force your opinions on  another person through our laws.

I could never vote for an anti-choice homophobic bigot creationist.  McSame nominating Palin was a political ploy to grab the women who supported Hilary Clinton.

No self respecting democrat will allow our children to be dumbed down in school.

Sarah Palin was the final nail in McSame's coffin, he gave the election to Obama.

  22. That's because atheists believe in evolution; survival of the fittest and they do not appreciate the sacredness of human life.  To them we are all just animals.  But in God's eyes everyone of us is precious even those with Downs Syndrome.

  23. My niece has Down Syndrome and anyone that thinks her life is worth less than anyone elses and would even consider murdering her because they dont think she is worth as much as another child is a sick disgusting bigot.

    wideawake

    You make me SICK

You dont have an obvious clue what kind of people those with Down Syndrome are and thank goodness you dont have the authority to kill anyone you think doesnt have a life worth living!

  24. It is a sign that she could be an Extremist Christian Fanatic.

I absolutely respect her Choice to Choose to have the baby with Down's syndrome. However the scary thing is she and her Extermist collegues wants to force all women to do the same by making abortion illegal.

Just imagine a world where women are forced to have babies,  knowing the baby will be crippled. That is Palin and Mccain's view of Ideal moral world.

    .

  25. Oh yes, such a good Christian woman that she stood by and laughed while a political opponent of hers whom she knew to be a cancer survivor was called "a b**** and a cancer"...

    http://www.adn.com/opinion/story/295464....

I don't have a problem with her for being a woman, being a mom, or having a special needs kid.  I have a problem with the fact that she's a hypocrite and if given the chance will spit all over the Constitution.

But clearly you are all for her anyway despite the fact (or maybe because of, Hel who knows) that she's a nutcase who would turn this country into a Totalitarian Regime, so I don't know why I bother.

  26. I am sure your God has more to think about then who will be the next VP of the USA.

Since it was HER CHOICE to continue the pregnancy knowing the baby had Downs Syndrome, a choice she was able to make,  it is none of our business.  Just like if she had decided NOT to continue the pregnancy.

Yeah, she's great for being a parent of a disabled child.  Thousands of parents do the same thing, but get none of the glory she is getting.  Clearly she has help, which a lot of families in the same situation could never afford.  Lucky her.

Also for those who are worshipping her already.  She is Pentecostal.  If you don't know what that means, I seriously think you ought to read up on it before voting her in.  It's not a very nice religion, and they are known for their extreme dislike of Catholics.  Just thought you'd like to know..
