  1. That is a question that changed my life a little.

I watched a documentary on young male prostitutes and a health worker said, sadly, after a while you become what you do.

I was a computer programmer at the time and realised that I had become one, if that makes sense - we all had the same way of talking, the same sense of humour.  I lost my job and changed to working as a hypnotherapist. I've changed to other work since then. I guess if you change what you do from time to time, whether it be a career or an interest, then you don't get as stuck into being a certain way.

So,my personal opinion is yes, if you do it long enough, you are what you do.

  2. Yes.Our thoughts culminate into actions. whether good or bad.

  3. in my opinion who i am and what i do are two different things. i do many things, some good, some bad, what does that make me? every man sins, it is in mankind's nature, does that make us all bad people?

  4. We are what we do.  Words are empty and actions speak louder.  In the end, people remember and judge us by what we do.

  5. I am not what I do.

I am who I am, I do what I do.  The two are separate and distinct things.

If I was what I do, that'd make me a "sitting at the computer, typing answers to odd and largely meaningless questions"  wheras I am, in fact, just a person.

  6. well i hope not! i just took a huge dump! :)

  7. An Ace.

  8. i purely agree with that, "We are what we do"

ive been reading this book called 'Conversations with God for teens' and it tells us all about this line....

its a really good book for teens try it!!!

  9. Actually it is true, that we are what we do.Because how can you do what you can not be?

Meaning, its hidden something that you are not aware about. Its just like you being shocked by your own reaction towards a certain situation.

Unaware of your self(the inner self). But an ordinary man would call you a pretender.

    Thanks for asking.

  10. Satre says we are defined by our actions, if you include thoughts as actions ( an Eastern idea ) then, yes. As to what it makes me? hmm a being existing in the unfolding, infinite moment.

  11. you DO what you DO

That sometimes makes you what you are.

But in different cases, that is just what you do.

    It just depends.
