Question:

Are you willing to hand all your personal information to a foreign government ?

The Office of National Statistics (ONS) has appointed Lockheed, a US company, to conduct the UK 2011 census. All our personal details will be held by a foreign company, probably in the US, and the US government could decide once again, as it did from the airlines, that all data be handed over to them. And once again, our government would capitulate without a murmur

Don't we have enough people in the UK to do the work ? They are so ignorant of our culture, how can they evaluate our census ? And given our government's carelessness with our personal data, how can we trust any of them ? I am incandescent with rage and will certainly not complete my census form in 2011 - how about you ?

  1. not a lot we can do about it, the U.K. loves America.

  2. I don't give THIS government any information, why would I give it to a foreign one?

  3. No I am not and certainly not to the US government. Perhaps we should all refuse to complete the census form until this government has a rethink.

  4. If I could get away it i wouldn`t give it to the British Govt, they`ve proved untrustworthy with all our records so far.

No wonder no one is ever convict of spying in the UK, westminster just gives them the information they want.

  5. I think you answered this one yourself.

Give it to a foreign government before ours loses the data.

As to the US being ignorant of our culture, I don't think that makes any difference. The statisticians (i.e. our government) will make the decisions on how to use the data.

I remember the census in the 70s where a group of us filled in the forms twice (once at home and then at a party). It was a farce.

  6. America is in control of what happens in the UK, and they like big government contracts, like the one for marking SATs tests.

I expect that when these new super prisons are built, it will be an American company that gets the contract to run them, when the prison service is privatised.

Oh, and I will fill out my census, maybe not in the conventional manner.

  7. No I would not complete a census form if the information was held abroad.  The laws covering census information in this country is very strict and people on it cannot be identified for 100 years.  It is purely for historic and planning purposes.

Our own government cannot be trusted with infomation but I would not trust the USA government any further than I could throw them.  This information should stay in GB - as it is at the moment and out of reach of the Government.

  8. With the way this government has been looking after our personal information to date all foreign governments almost certainly have a comprehensive data base on all of us. If there is anything you want to check about yourself or family history check with the K.G.B's replacement.

  9. No!
