  1. What do you mean Peak Oil?

The price of oil has dropped loads in the last month.

  2. Yes we should be concerned, but I'm optimistic that new technologies - perhaps after a few tough years - will provide an answer. It's unfortunate most governments are not doing much about this - even recognizing the facts.

I'm particularly hopeful about distributed energy production (producing energy at homes/business etc.) using solar and new battery technologies.  Hybrid cars are part of the answer as well.

I try to present available facts on this issue at http://www.hybrid-car-show.com/peak-oil-...

  3. I think about this a lot. According to this we should be worried: http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/,  (some company seems to have hijacked this first link). But you can find it online if you type "after peak oil" into the yahoo search engine. This is a more optimistic article: http://www.sacbee.com/110/story/585637.h...

It's hard to predict what kind of skills will be most in demand in times of huge economic transformation. I would think all the basic services would still be in demand; doctors, plumbers, farming, gardening, lots of hands on skills and anything in alternative energy.

I think we as a society need to start planning for this. One billionaire is going to put up a lot of his own money to invest in wind power. He wants to produce 20% of our electricity from wind. That is a great step in the right direction.

We also need to invest heavily in solar.

People need to start changing the way they live. We have to see that big changes are coming and prepare for it.
