Are you worried about not being able to homeschool them because of this election? Its really worrying me. Thank God i made it through school but i am worried about my younger sisters/brothers, they love homeschooling and they are really worried about not being able to. They love regular school as well so it wouldnt be to bad to swich just as of right now they love it. How bad would you take it if your child would have to go back to school? Or if you would have to go back to school? I'm really worried about them...I hope that my sisters/brothers make it through before they pass a law...

  1. There's a possible law against homeschooling? I don't believe that....

All I can say is if that's true....

    "It's about d**n time!"

    What took them so long?

    lol, j/k....

    =)

  2. Nope.

    I'd emigrate first.

  3. The possibility of anti-homeschooling laws being passed at the state level (more probable than the national level) is always a concern.  This is why homeschoolers are always vigilant about what is going on in the courts and state governments.  This is also why there are legal teams who devote their time to helping homeschoolers.

  4. No Law is going to tell me whether or not I have to send my kids to public schools...

Homeschooling is a choice just like freedom of living, religion, and speech.

For one thing, Homeschooling has been around for umteen times longer than "public school."

Shame on the government for even thinking about making it "illegal."

  5. No not really. It would take more than one president to overturn homeschooling in this country.... some serious damage perhaps but not a total overturn.

Parental rights should never be legislated away.

However, that does not mean we shouldn't be diligent about contacting our senators, etc when needed and staying on top of legislation.

  6. Why are you concerned? I haven't read any of the candidates saying that home schooling was on their to-do list for presidency.

Do you have a link or something?

  7. I was a little at first. I don't even know if I'm going to homeschool my kids. I love being homeschooled, and I know I can teach my own children a lot some day, but I want them to at least try public school for a while and see how it goes. Maybe they'll be the kind of kids who can get an education IN SPITE of their schooling, to coin a famous quote. But I still want to have the option and I want every family to have the option.

  8. Schooling is legislated at the state level, and has been ever since the Revolutionary War ended.  Even if the next President had it out for homeschooling - past ones have - there's no way they'd be able to get laws passed prohibiting it in one or two terms.  Besides, we're fighting a war and trying to keep our country out of a recession; whoever ends up in the Oval Office will have much bigger things to worry about than a couple million kids who kick butt on college entrance exams :-)

Every year, several states have legislators that try to introduce new bills to oversee homeschooling; problem is, they try to introduce requirements that haven't been met in public schools yet.  There are legal teams that oversee this sort of thing and mobilize citizens whenever something like this comes up.

In order for the new President, whoever that may be, to change homeschooling laws, they'd have to change the Constitution and the way educational law is handled.  I'm not too worried.

Now, for the up and coming state legislators...they need to be elected with care.  They're the ones that can have a large effect on homeschooling law.
