A growing number of white people believe they are the victims of racial prejudice in Britain, official research has found.

Almost one in three - 29 per cent - said they now expected to be treated worse than other races by key public services.

And the number of whites claiming to have been refused a job or discriminated against at work for reasons of race has doubled in the last five years, according to the Government study.

One in six white Britons feel only a slight sense of belonging to the nation.

Fifty-eight per cent said they believe there was more racial prejudice now than five years ago, compared to 44 per cent who were interviewed in 2001.

The figure for ethnic minority communities has hardly changed, at 32 per cent.

The survey found that 29 per cent of white people expect to be treated worse than other groups by at least one of eight public services, including the police, prisons, courts, Crown Prosecution service, probation service, local housing organisations, schools or GPs.

  1. No. What a surprise - more whingeing by Daily Mail readers.

  2. I worry if anyone is a victim of racism.

  3. Hispanics and Mexicans in the U.S are the single most racist group we have today, they breed racism.

They are the klan with a tan and hate anyone not brown. I's scary, especially in Texas and L.A.

La Raza, brown pride, racist groups on the rise.

  4. Where is this report? It is normal practice for journalists to name the survey. Unusually, the Mail have not confirmed the source other than to say 'official research.'

These official reports are normally in the public domain, and I haven't seen any other reports about the survey in other papers. Do you know who undertook the research ?

  5. Poor whity.

  6. That may be the case in Britain, but not so in the United States. Regardless of the few comments being made that it is (that makes me so laugh).

I remember an incident that occured about 15 years ago when I was a kid. We had just moved into the neighborhood (my siblings and I along with my mom - Irish and step-dad - proudest, whitest man in America). A little girl rode her bike onto our lawn and asked "are you allowed to play with white people?"

I guess she assumed because I have an olive complexion (that would be the Italian and Puerto Rican blood from my biological father's side) I was the "other meat." Needless to say, I didn't know how to respond since coming from Jersey race isn't really an issue like it is in the Southern states. I said "Let me ask my dad."

Boy was he pissed. His response was "Yeah... as long as they're not dead."

So, I can say from personal experience that I have NEVER seen any white person in this area ridiculed, persecuted or thensome. However, I have seen plenty of racism against other cultures (such as one time when I was at the library & heard a little boy ask his dad "why is that man with that black woman?" The dad responded, "because some people are just stupid.")

  7. Its happening in the US too...

  8. There probably is - but there's more inter-racial racism now too. I was listening to Skunk Anansie the other day and that (even 12 years ago) had the word "******" in it quite a few times (and this was an anti-racism band.) Now, there is a lot more black music with this word in, I have heard black people say this amongst themselves, and you see it frequently in films. So, it's more socially acceptable for this sort of racism to be coming out. Whereas, whilst there appears to be an increase of black to white or inter racial racism over the last twenty years, white people have been educated OUT of saying this over the past twenty years or so.

Unless the PC brigade crack down on this, the split is only going to grow with some social groups seeing racism as ok and others seeing it as a huge no-no.

So, in short - I guess my answer is yes.

  9. hmmm so says the daily hate-mail.

  10. Although your source is that beacon of gloom & doom the Daily Mail I do agree that ethnic minorities seem to get preferential treatment, especially in social housing.

One of the worst offenders seems to be the B.B.C. You only have to turn on the regional news programmes to find the absence of white English people.

  11. I think this survey really relates to the goverment and councils postive discrimination policy which makes white people feel they cannot apply for jobs also the continual multicultriasm forever being harped on about if this is truly a mixed race country why is there a need for postive discrimination we are all eqaul .

  12. We have the same problem here in the states.

  13. Here in the U.S. it seems like the majority of african americans are racist.

I never have a problem with any of them and some of my friends are african american. But so many african americans feel like white people owe them something because of events that took place when many of todays generation wasn't even born yet.

Im sick of it since I didnt own a slave and I never would want to since it is immoral.

  14. Yes

  15. The answer lies in the failure of Multiculturalism. The Europeans have been far too  accommodatingg towards Non-European demands in an attempt to absorb the worst aspects of their medievalal Cultures and practises.

  16. And who is to blame for all of this.

  17. No matter what nation you go to you will find racism & only we can stop it. Until someone decides to stop it it will never end. Racism is wrong no matter who the act is being performed on

  18. ive seen muslims being the victims of racism after all the terror attacks which were wrong but i havent seen a white victim of racism . racism is wrong anyways and it should be wiped out

  19. Interesting question.

29 per cent said they now expected to be treated worse than other races by key public services - not that they were, just that they expected to be. So no evidence there.

Whites claiming to have been refused a job or discriminated against at work for reasons of race has doubled in the last five years - backed up with actual evidence of those cases upheld? No. So we can't really call that evidence.

One in six white Britons feel only a slight sense of belonging to the nation - so do 5 in 6 feel more than that or less? This tells us nothing.

Fifty-eight per cent said they believe there was more racial prejudice now than five years ago, compared to 44 per cent who were interviewed in 2001 - so again, it's what people believe, not what actually is. And is that against whites? Asians? Blacks? Irish? Once again, a statistic which tells us nothing.

But isn't it amazing how powerful a set of statistics can look when presented without comment, and selectively. There are also statistics in the article you've chosen not to reproduce. Any reason.

And it's amazing how easily statistics are rendered meaningless when examined.

Nowhere in this article does it state that more and more whites are victims of racism - you've distorted what the article says, even more than the Daily Mail tried to. And that takes some doing!

  20. don't like this article.

At first it says that A growing number of white people believe they are the victims of racial prejudice in Britain, official research has found.

This doesn't say white "british", which i found interesting

  21. no

  22. not as worried as I am that most police forces refuse to treat racial attacks on whites by non-whites as hate crimes

  23. Revenge and contempt are ugly characteristics; racism by anyone against others, no matter who it is, bears these flaws of injustice.

  24. Yes, it's the same here in the U.S. A lot of white people have been victims of racism and it continues. The problem is that people only seem to care about racism when it effects non whites.

  25. No. I haven't seen evidence of whites being the victim of racism. What I do see are white people playing the race card whenever they don't get their own way!

  26. no, im not worried.

  27. everyone should be worried when there is racism against ANYONE , the reason is simple : sooner or later u will be next if u do not stand up against racism anywhere than u find it and see it against someone else :

  28. No.

Was this a survey carried out by the government on a random cross-section of the populace or was it carried out by the Daily Mail on a cross-section of Daily Mail readers?

  29. I personally have been a victim of discrimination and yes, i am white. a few years ago I moved to a city to finish my college education and I moved there with nothing.. I had no furniture..nothing. I spent $1000 my first month there buying basics..just a bed,  few clothes, toiletries etc. I made $600 a month. The second month I needed help with rent..I called every place there (in a city of over a million people)..they all told me the same thing for 3 weeks..we are out of funds. I would go in and talk to them in person and i was told "we have no money". before I even left, a person "non white" came in and they said "go on back we have your money for you.".. I went to one place for furniture before I bought any and was told that there wasn't anything available to me but another couple "non white' was there and they were loading up a truck load for them.

I can finish college ONLY if I wish to borrow another $90,000 in student loans..because most of the grants go to foreign students now. Go to any website like scholarships.com and read it.. you will see most of the scholarships are for "foreign students or african americans" or whatever. I am not predjudiced.. but I know how it is for me. I have also been turned down for government services because they had their "quota" met for white people. People can deny that all they want but it is true that whites are becoming discriminated against.

  30. I seriously doubt it.

Unless people bend over backwards to kiss their butt, some white people feel persecuted by the mere fact that brown people exist.
