Are your eyes sensitive to onions??????

I cant stand being around onions, even when i stand far away from it they still sting...but i can tell some people dont notice anything...does it happen to you? anyway to prevent it? haha

  3. Yes, I don't know how to stop it.  Some onions, like white ones, are worse than others.

    It seems like my eyes ajust fine to onion fumes.

  5. Your eyes aren't sensitive to the onions. It's the reaction between your tears and the gas that the onions release that cause the eyes to tear.

  6. no my eyes dont do that but i think maybe its becuase i eat them all the time and im used to them .. but no my eyes never hurt or i never start crying :) lol

  10. Im super sensitive to them. I make my husband cut them and even from the living room my eyes get itchy and watery.

  11. the only time onions every really bother my eyes is at christmas time when my nana fries a lot of them. i have to leave the house when she does that.

    To prevent this i either put the onion in the freezer 10 minutes before freezing.  or in the refridgerator after purchasing.

  17. yes my eyes are vey sensitive to onions, as is everyone elses, onions have a oil in them that makes everyone's eyes sensitive to them.  i think the best way for your eyes not to feel this is to peel them under running water, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt, but for the most part it does work. i love putting onions in everything i cook, it makes everything taste so very good.
